Quality cutter
This is one impressive blade. The Iris leaf tip is outstandingly optimized for penetrating & cutting power. the half Bo-hi & false edge do a great job of reducing weight keeping it light & quick, & the handle is just long enough to get a good two handed grip if need be. Fit n finish is very good, all parts nice n tight. The Tsuka is perfectly sized & the handle wrap is tight. The Saya is a perfect fit with no rattle. I would have liked to have the scabbard throat fitted with a metal collar though....as this blade can easily cut through the wood on a bad draw. The overall package is rather light & comfortable to wear even while in practice. I really like it !! By far one of the best swords for the money out there. The blade comes with two sword bags, one plain blue & the other is silk. Due to the fact that this is a serious combat weapon that can severely injure or kill, one must exercise caution when handling this blade. This is NOT a toy & should not be handled as such. I strongly recommend that no one under 18 be allowed to purchase or use this with or without adult supervision.....but.....that is ultimately your decision. You are the arrow of your intent.....aim yourself well.

Should have better QC.
Very nice, everything looks great except for the sageo which is rather bad looking and the blade had a small burr all down the edge, minimal work to remove but it should not be there. I’m happy with this sword.

Great quality for the price
Exceeded my expectations. Very good quality for the price. It’s pretty sharp but I will probably hone it a bit. It feels good in my hands. Well balanced. I feel like a little kid with this thing. I want to chop up everything around me, haha.

Eh had higher expectations
Guard is rusted , must have been in moist environment. Edge is sharp but not razor sharp I’m not a sword expert , but I can see the wood ? pins in the handle . I don’t know how strong this sword really is and would it really be a battle ready sword, or a$60.00 machete be better . I understand this is not a real Japanese sword from Japan those are in the thousands $ , but I had higher expectations. I was hoping the edge was razor sharp but I gotten a kabar that was sharper out the box .

The real deal
I was a bit skeptical after reading the negative reviews. It seems as though all of the blades in this series are hand crafted so no 2 blades are ever the same. It would appear that a few people got lemons. I did not. The best part about this wakazashi and cold steel katana type blades in general is that they are very broad blades. If compared to a chinese katana, you can clearly see the difference in blade width. Just to make sure that it was a cold steel blade, i disassembled it and looked for a maker's mark. There was a maker's mark indeed but there was nothing indicating cold steel. No big deal. One can tell that it is manufactured by cold steel by just looking at the craftsmanship and materials used. Scabbard is actually 1 solid piece of hardwood as opposed to particle board wood used in sub 200 dollar katanas. The second is that the fittings are all metal. Mostly brass. The one downside that really didnt matter much to me (though it should) is that the ray skin is synthetic. It does not feel or look like real rayskin. If you're looking for a good entry level sword that is actually ready to be utilized, this is the perfect display/weapon that won't break your bank.

Needs some smithing to be good
It's definitely a used and returned sword, but in good enough shape. There was some rusty that I had to clean off and the tip was already bent, which i had to file down. The sword came in without the Saya on to protect it and for some reason came with 3. Its overall a decent sword and will work against the oncoming zombie wave.

Exquisite blade adequate for self defense soulful indeed
I can’t imagine why this sword received much of a negative review

Disappointed
The sword and fittings themselves are beautiful. The construction quality is very poor. Saya was cracked just inside the koiguchi. Fuchi and Kashira were extremely loose. Ito was very loose. Habaki was cracked/split at the ha side of the blade. Polish on the blade was excellent, and it came extremely sharp. Iron fittings are gorgeous and the silk Ito is beautiful. The components are excellent but the assembly thereof and QC just isn't there.
