SonicWall TZ300 01-SSC-0215 VPN Wired Gen 6 Firewall Appliance (Hardware only)

I've installed a lot of routers and the Sonic Wall is certainly less complicated to set up than a Cisco but more complicated than something directed at say residential uses. That is to be expected, the more capable the product the more there is to configure. I had an issue that ended up being the ISP but I sent an email to SonicWall support and didn't receive a response for days. I read through the manual and if you want any tech support you must pay for it. If I remember correctly they want about $500 to help you with configuration. Once I found the problem I sent a follow up to tech support saying they could dismiss the previous inquiry. In less than 30 minutes I received an email saying the ticket had been closed so they saw the previous email very quickly, they just ignored it. Then they sent me an email asking me to rate the support I received. I thought that was pretty funny given that they ignored me completely. I gave them an honest evaluation of their total lack of support. That said, the product was fine. Just understand that you had better know what you are doing because they aren't going to help you unless you pay more for the support than for the device.

This router is unnecessarily difficult to configure.Port forwarding, for example, took me two hours of research and involves creating a service (which is normal for good routers), creating a NAT policy, and then creating a firewall rule. These port forwards are thrown into a big table of other rules where there is not even a description, so it's very hard to find the rules/policies you just created.In most routers, the Meraki MX, for example, port forwarding is straightforward and can be accomplished in one dialog box.If SonicWall had some tutorials it might be easier, but many Google searches resulted in very little useful information. And many SonicWall Google search links are broken (SonicWall must have removed the pages).

Bought a SonicWALL TZ300 appliance and it was registered to someone else. Had to return. This should NOT have been a problem if it was "new".

We have ordered 3 now and all could be activated and registered in the US. They came in good condition and worked as advertised.

Excellent product. Was a great upgrade over Netgear ProSafe. Wish I had done it sooner. Rock solid VPN connections.

Great product, easy to manage, and powerful enough to handle the businesses I install them in.
