Excellent book for British doublegun enthusiasts, particularly those entering the hobby and looking for a good primer on boxlocks, which tend to be far more affordable than their sidelock equivalents. Tons of pictures and informative content. Highly recommend. I use all of Hadoke's books as references and consult them frequently.

Dig is a thorough researcher and more than competent as a writer. Besides, the photos are outstanding. The volume is a welcome addition to any gun lover's library.

Diggory Hadoke's second shotgun-related book is based on the same layout as the first (Vintage Guns for the Modern Shot), but with improvements. Eminently readable, The Brtish Boxlock Gun & Rifle contains a huge amount of information about boxlock guns with numerous photo illustrations. If you have any interest in the development of the shotgun, British or otherwise, you should own this book.

Essential read for when buying & collecting old English gems. Know the product & histories. Maintenance guide, how to strip etc.Great pictures too. I found the book a easy read & will refer back to it often. Along with his other book vintage guns for modern shots.
