Product Description Disney presents the smash hit comedy that families and critics everywhere went bananas over! Deep in the heart of the African jungle, a baby named George, the sole survivor of a plane crash, is raised by gorillas. George grows up to be a buff and lovable klutz (ENCINO MAN'S Brendan Fraser) who has a rain forest full of animal friends -- like Tookie, his big-beaked messenger, Ape, a talking gorilla who's smarter than your average rocket scientist, and Shep, a gray-haired peanut-loving pooch of an elephant! When poachers mess with George's pals, the King Of Swing swings into action. But before you can say, "Watch out for that tree," George comes face-to-bark with a few vine-covered obstacles! You'll go wild for this "wonderfully wacky comedy" that People Magazine calls "impossible to resist!" .com Disney scored an unexpected hit with this goofy live-action remake of Jay Ward's Saturday-morning cartoon, a zippy Tarzan parody with topical references and absurd gags. Disney's big-screen version, starring Brendan Fraser as the sweet, hopelessly inept jungle hero, puts the emphasis on slapstick and silly fun. The klutzy hero, still swinging into trees and stray boulders, saves a lost L.A. socialite (Leslie Mann) on safari and, completely smitten, leaves behind his tree-house home and simian best friend (an Oxford-accented ape voiced by John Cleese) to accompany the socialite back to the concrete jungle of LA, much to the frustration of her conniving fiancé (Thomas Haden Church). Fraser's enthusiastic performance enriches our hunky hero with endearing innocence and energetic pluck. The humor is spotty and consistently more juvenile than the original cartoon, but the unending parade of visual gags (including George's pet elephant Shep, transformed into an overexcited six-ton puppy by inventive digital effects) keeps the tone light, frothy, and winningly fun. --Sean Axmaker

Comedy
If you like comedy this is a good one. Family friendly, a little slap stick. The villains are not demonic, more clumsy and funny.

A Disney Classic!!!!!!!
I am Shere Khan the tiger and I approve this message! When you think of Disney, what comes to mind are wondrous, unimaginable things such as a bear and a boy floating down a river singing the Bare Necessities, or a genie who helps a street rat become a prince to gain the love of his life, or a prince who becomes a beast and his castle and servants become enchanted until he finds true love. This right here has Disney all over it. An elephant that behaves like a dog barking and fetching logs is about as Disney as it can get.Indeed George Of The Jungle is a classic Disney film. During the time throughout the 1990's when Disney produced live action family comedy sometimes drama films, this film is one of the ones that stands out the most alongside Jungle 2 Jungle. There are interesting choices made with this film that make it unique. For example, the hilarious narration done by the narrator who's very entertaining, especially when he's interacting with the characters. Whenever the characters break the fourth wall are some of the funniest moments ever, and it's funny how throughout the movie, either the characters or the narrator (mainly the narrator) make note to the fact that they are in a movie, like when the narrator mentions the expensive waterfall set the narrator mentions used for a specific scene. The quality of the film is just beautiful. The sets used for the jungle look marvelous including the appearance of Ape Mountain itself looks really cool. The effects for the Shep the elephant look amazing. He looks real and computer effects were still developing at the time, so that's saying so much. Adding to that, the idea of George of the jungle having a pet elephant that literally acts like a dog was pretty genius to tell the truth. No joke he literally at one point in the film has a dog bone in his mouth temporarily before the narrator realizes it's too much. The gorillas look real to the point where you forget they are anamatronics/puppets. I love to see a movie that uses a perfect combination of practical and CGI effects which is this film. They are not what you'd expect in this movie and you realize that when you see them go all karate fighting on evil poachers. In terms of the actors themselves, Brendan Fraser nails the role of the clumsy yet noble king of the jungle. In this movie, he fights a lion, swings on vines only to crash into trees all throughout, he rides his pet elephant, wrestles with his gorilla brothers, defeats poachers, and eventually marries his true love. Thomas Hayden Church is Ursula Stanhope's egotistical fiance Lyle Van de Groot. He is without a doubt the funniest character in the movie and he steals the show in all of his scenes. Scenes where he gets a blown raspberry from an orangutan, trips and falls face forward on elephant poop, gets teased hilariously by his African travel guides, and ends up getting loved by a female ape on an inflatable boat. The actress who played Ursula is sweet, adorable and has excellent chemistry with Brendan Fraser's George of the jungle. John Cleese is also extremely amusing to hear his voice come out of George's brother Ape (he's literally an ape). It's so funny to see Ape interact with George and the noticeable differences with each's manner of self-expression with Ape's professional speech and George's unproper form makes it all the more amusing. This was one of my all time favorites as a child, from the live action genre importantly. I must commend this movie for it's comedy and the way they make it for both kids and adults. What adult comedy is in this movie will slip past little kid's minds. If there is one company that can make a movie for with appropriate content for both children and adults it's Disney. It's also a romance movie (a decent romance), and there is action and fighting occasionally though none of it is the kind that makes you cringe. It's mostly slapstick fighting. And most importantly nobody dies in this movie, they just get really big boo boos. What did I tell you?I highly recommend it for anybody!!!!!!!
