101 Champagnes and other Sparkling Wines: To Try Before You Die

Sparkling, informative and fun. Highly recommend for champagne enthusiasts or novices alike!

Overall, I jumped right in and read things I already knew, but enjoyed being reminded of. My only issue is a couple of inconsistencies. One one page highlighting that six grapes can be used in Champagne and then starting seven on another. (It is seven and he lists them out) Also, he brings his political views into what occasion you would drink a certain wine. I bought this book to learn and enjoy...not to be told by a Brit what he thinks of the American President. Whatever you think, it's not necessary to put it in your book. For me, a good reason to drink bubbly is Wednesday or because you went to the store and found toilet paper. There are a lot of reasons that don't have to be snarky.Also, the prices are in £ for the recommendations key. Keep that in mind as they are probably a little more expensive in the States.I will keep the book for the bubbles list and descriptions, but am glad I bought it used.

101 seems to capture everything I love about drinking fizzy wine and packages it as an informative yet laid back need to know guide on wines that you simply must try. I’m working my way through the list and haven’t been let down yet. Looking forward to working my way through to the end! A must have gift and one that I know is in a few stockings from me already!

I loved Mr Zyw's first book, where his passion for champagne came through beautifully. However, I felt that the 50 champagnes covered here had already been covered in his first book, so there was little point in reading about them. I was interested in learning more about sparkling wines, but the passion was missing in the descriptions here, and I have found it virtually impossible to find any of the sparkling wines online. This book may be useful for urban dwellers, who are surrounded by wine merchants and supermarkets, but it is a little frustrating for those of us who are country dwellers.
