Required tool for the job, awesome tool!!
The part worked perfectly. It spread the spring apart to allow the ring to fit over the gasket. I’m glad I got the tool that had the bigger spread. There was no problem with the tool, built strong!! It takes a little finesse to fit the spreader into the spring holes, but that is the spring problem. But once you get the tool in place, you’re good to go!! There’s no way the job can be completed without this tool!! Great piece of equipment!

Worked like a charm on LG front load washer
100% worth the money, especially compared to the price of an OEM pair of these pliers from LG. Without this tool I probably would have damaged the new washer gasket and/or injured myself in the process trying to expand the 2 springs that are required to be removed (and later reinstalled) as part of the gasket replacement process. My exact model washer is a 2017 LG WM8100HVA. The exact year and model probably don't matter, as it is likely the design of the springs is going to be the same or very similar in all models. You CAN do the job yourself with the help of this tool!

The extra opening size makes this a breeze to use!
So simple to use - just insert each end into one of the spring loops on the front of the front loading washer bellows (seal) and squeeze. The loop will just pop off.You may only need to use this one time, but it is worth every penny in saved time and frustration. If only they had something like this for the rear spring!

It worked on my LG washer bellows spring retainer - vice grips help.
I had to use vice grips to keep it at full expansion while I positioned the spring retaining wire around the inner bellows.Easy to help remove. The handles are a little shorter than they should be and to get the spring expanded as far as I wanted took the full expansion of the tool with my hands right at the end of the tool. I eventually used vice grips to keep the expansion tool and the spring expanded at the full distance to allow me to place the expanded ring around the seals (inner and outer) without pushing as hard as I can.I can't imagine this job without the tool. I have the blue version bought at end of 2021. The welds look amateur but it worked. Max expansion is just shy of 5 3/4" outside of expansion finger to outside of expansion finger.

Essential tool and well worth the price!
Do yourself a favor and buy this thing! My son and I nearly injured ourselves trying to wrestle the super-tight spring on the "rear" securing wire for this boot - the main rear fastener that secures the grey rubber door boot on our LG FRONT LOAD WASHER (LG WM3470HWA). See my review for the boot. In my opinion, we would probably still be wrestling with it, if we had not purchased this tool or something similar. If you can, buy it.

You need these
Son and I repaired front loading LG washer, had to replace the pump. It takes time to dismantle and do the repair, but you really need this tool to take off and put back on the metal band that holds the gasket in place. Did a lot of research and this one opens further than others that looked exactly the same online. Definitely worth the money, made repair pretty easy for a diy project.
