Recognizing the Reality of Christ in Social Politics
Dr. Hendricks has blown the covers off our complacency once again. He is an academic scholar, so don't be threatened by his use of vernacular. Take your time and read this book! It is destined to make you rethink your position on today's "Gospel" music industry as well as (and more importantly) why our political construct in this "so called" United States of America, is so fractured by it's fundamental claim to Christian morality and Biblical principles. Dr. Hendricks is not arguing for or against any political party, but he is an apologist for Christ and what authentic Christian values call those of us who share a core belief in the Word of Christ and the fundamental teachings of the Bible to do in order to respond to our current social, economic and health crises all across this great nation! If for no other reason than to be edified by the brilliance of a strong, unapologetic, critical thinker, I emplore you to read and digest the majesty of this wonderful text!

The third read is the key!
I read this book when it first came out and it seemed to be following inline with the first and I loved the take. However retreading this text in light of what has happened to the church in the time of a Trump Presidency and the Bastardization Of the Evangelical Church has mad this an even more necessary read for every follower of Jesus.

Important Book In This Time Of Injustice Towards Many
This book opened my eyes to how easily we in White America accept and allow injustice. It is most relevant in this time when the country's attention has been forced to Ferguson, MO, and other police-on-Black-Youth shootings. It is comforting to accept an optimistic outlook as Dr. Hendricks proposes, and I agree with his premise that the universe does bend toward justice. Unfortunately, it is the unexamined self of many in power that allows injustice to continue.

The MLK sermon is worth the price of the book
In my seminary years and 25 years of ordained ministryI had never come across the writings of Obrey Hendricks Jr. I wish I had discovered him sooner. This man is consumed with establishing God's reign of justice "on earth as it is in heaven." A powerful book by a modern day prophet.

The Universe Bends toward Justice
A great book for anyone interested in the truth of the Word of God as the author looks "at" and "through" the text to reveal the subtle predjucies by mainstream authors with other agendas as revealed in their ongoing biases. This text helps one to think outside of the structured parameters of theology to the truth within the text. The historical background work is excellent.Dr. Pennon Lockhart

A great book, easy to read
A great book, easy to read, well-written. At some point my attention failed me, as I was already convinced. But if you don't believe Christianity is about social liberation and not personal salvation, if you don't believe that the political right is unBiblical, this book has piles of arguments to illustrate the point.

The Universe Bends Towards Justice
An excellent book! It is well thought out, and a documented analysis of Christianity. Just as important, it points out that in most cases, we learn and accept what we are taught and seldom learn from a critical analysis of other views. This book is also timely as we experience todays politics and views of the haves and the want to haves.
