Exactly what I needed
I didn't have provision on my mobo for usc-c, This was a direct swap, easy as pie, works great and solved my issue!

Works great
My motherboard did not have the proper USB-C connector but fortunately, this adapter worked to join the USC-C cable connecting the computer box outlet to the motherboard. Worked great --

plug and play
got a type c you need to plug in and only have a 3.1 header? here you go, it's plug and play. feels nice to have all my FPIO connected even if it's not always in use

Data connection works, as does charging, but no high speed charging.
Just got done a new PC build, My new case came with USB-C connections on the front panel, but uses the newfangled "A" type connector instead of the motherboard pins. Not wanting to have to use the wallwart that came with my phone to charge, or use Bluetooth for file transfers, i found this LINKUP adapter.Connection is easy enough, you plug it into the cable from the front of the case, then plug the whole assembly into the USB 3 header on the motherboard. For some reason, there's a lot of front to back wiggle room, which is slightly concerning, especially with the horror stories that keep showing up on the reviews. I ended up attaching the USB front panel connector rather firmly to the case to brace it to, hopefully, take some of the strain off the adapter, and the motherboard header.Plugging in my phone, a Pixel 4a, connects fine and charges, but only slowly. I had thought that the advertised power delivery would have been more... potent, considering the fact that this adapter is more complex than some of the competitor adapters out there.Don't get me wrong, it works fine for my needs, and there's no way I'm gonna risk it messing up my motherboard by removing it. So, If you need to hook up a USB 3.0 front panel to a motherboard missing the new style header, and want one that comes out at a right angle to your motherboard, and don't mind not having fast charging, this adapter is one to consider.

Brilliant Design & Function
I NEED this for motherboards that don't have the new USB 3.2 (Gen 2) 20-pin, A-Key connector - which is the female end pictured in the description. *Matched with front panel Type-C connector on 5.25 slot panel*>Design - (5 stars) for innovation and function; running full speed from ASUS Mark 2 X299 board - connected to a Samsung T5 portable drive. Nice upgrade for future USB Type-C. Low profile design fits perfect - better than the ole bulky cable that it replaced - no interference.>Function - (5 Stars) I'm getting max speeds from this connector (dependent on Motherboard design). My board will get up to 5Gbp on the front panel which is 625 MB/s max - plenty for a portable drive (IMO)>Price & Availability - (5 Stars) when they're in stock. Note the manufacturer - you will sell out of these faster than Amazon can refresh this page...

Poorly made, does not function well.
Inconsistent connection due to very flimsy design. Was difficult to remove after it failed testing. I rarely return items, as most of them are my error in selecting the right part or item, but this one is all on the manufacturer. Even when I could get a connection during testing, the speed was far slower than direct USB-C connection to the back of the motherboard. Take a pass on this one.

Solid upgrade
Given you have a spare 3.2 to plug this into on a lower end board, this gives you the ability to utilize the usb-c port on higher end cases. Very niche but necessary for the budget builder.

Cheap and does the Job
The device is a great substitute if your motherboard is missing a USB 3.1 (gen 2) 20 pin connection. The biggest drawback is that it can only do 5GB per/sec instead of the 10GB per/sec that a USB 3.1 (gen 2) can do. If this is not something that concerns you then this device will work great. The device is not very sturdy. After installation, I need to disconnect the adaptor to install another device. The adaptor was stuck in the port and was extremely difficult to remove. So much so that I accidentally ripped the card right out of the connector breaking it.I decide to go with an alternative device to get the full 10GB per/sec., but if you are just looking for a basic front panel connection this adaptor will work just fine.
