My go to cleaner for hard water scale!
I live in a city with very hard water. I spent almost a decade here wiping things down and fighting against mineral buildup without finding anything that easily removed the problem. Our house is built in such a way that we just can't put a water softener in because there is no place to put a drain line. Unfortunately it seems that we're just stuck fighting the buildup. Then one day I stumbled across the knowledge that citric acid loves to eat away at the mineral buildup from hard water. This stuff has been a miracle worker! I've removed so many years of mineral buildup all over our house! The faucets in the bathrooms look like new! I clean out my tea kettle every few weeks with this stuff! My favorite use for this is in the dishwasher. I add about 1 - 2 teaspoons just tossed straight in to the bottom of the dishwasher before I turn it on. The first wash after we did this the first time was so amazing! I couldn't believe how clean my dishes looked. After the first week of trying this out it was almost like we'd replaced all of our dishware. Years of buildup that had also caused other stains was gone. I drink big glasses of iced tea every day and my tumblers were starting to get a tea colored tint on the inside. Thanks to the hard water scale being removed, the stain that was attached to it disappeared too and all of my tumblers looked like I'd just bought them! My mom was so impressed by how clean our dishes looked that she bought a bag of citric acid and now tosses some in with every dishwasher load too! It is SO quick and easy to use as a cleaner. It is activated with just hot water. I put hot water in a container, pour some citric acid in and either drop things into the container to soak, or hold the container under things so that they can be submerged like the faucet head in my bathrooms. Some spots need a little more creativity. I sprinkle granules around the handles of the faucets in the bathroom where drips from wet hands like to cause buildup over time and then drizzle tiny amounts of hot water over it. It works so quickly, usually within 3 - 5 minutes, then I use a sponge to try to rub it in to tough build up a bit and then rinse it all away, that's it! I put some in my hot kettle right after I've made my morning tea with a little extra hot water in the pot. It literally takes 30 seconds to remove all the scale from the bottom of the pot, and then it's clean as new. I do this every 2 - 4 weeks and today my 2 year old kettle still looks new which is a miracle with the hard water here. I know that there are a lot of uses for citric acid, but I only use mine as a cleaner for hard water scale and i can't say enough good about it. It has been the miracle that my house needed when other options for removing scale have failed. It's cheap, easy to use, not a harsh chemical like so many other cleaning products, I so highly recommend this if you're struggling with hard water buildup!

Worked for my intended purpose
This is ok. The bag didn’t look anything like the photo and I would prefer to receive what is shown. I used about 3/4 cup maybe, to mix with water and add to my water softener salt brine tank then ran a regen cycle. After a few days and a second cycle, our water was noticeably softer like we had a new softener. Pleasantly surprised that it helped. It really helped to clean the resin with this solution which I found suggested in YouTube. I will continue to use this every few months or as needed. I also tried to clean my toilet bowl with it because I have very hard water mineral buildup, but I couldn’t get it to scrub completely off; neither the ring nor where water flows down in. In fact the citric acid powder “ stuck “ to the stains and I had to get a scrub brush to get it off because flushing would not rinse it away. Probably best not used for this purpose or find a way to dissolve into a solution rather than use by sprinkling powder into toilet. Considering running some in the washing machine but the toilet sticking incident worries me so maybe I won’t try the washing machine! I’ll have to look up more ways to use citric acid.

good price for a great product
Citric acid is somewhat of a commodity item. So one might be as good as the next. This product stands out for several reasons. One it is food grade, primarily I need this to clean a water distiller. It easily removes concrete like residue. It is well packaged, it is in a bag within the resealable outer bag. The price is very competitive. Also it is 'fine grain', a half cup dissolves quickly in hot water. Dishwashers and laundry machines pumps can be damaged by undissolved product. I'm very happy with this and will almost certainly buy it again.

I recommend for cleaning use.
I use this to to clean my water distiller and it works awesome. The price was less than the citric acid sold for cleaning, so I will purchase again.
