Exceeded my Expectations
I am not an artist and although I can recognize good art content, my personal art abilities are severely lacking. However, over the last couple years I have lost interest in watching television. In addition, since I am older and in my mid-sixties, I don’t enjoy reading as much as I did when I was younger, I used to read for hours at a time, but now my eyes get tired quickly, and then my vision blurs. Anyway, I thought that I would try the new trend of coloring, which is a quiet way to relax and unwind from the day. I purchased my first adult coloring book, and I chose these coloring pencils, because the choice of 72 colors was a generous amount. Additionally, since I am only a beginner, in this new hobby, I felt that the price was reasonable. If coloring was something I enjoyed, I could always upgrade later. These coloring pencils are much better than I expected, there is a large selection of different hues and tints for each major color, and the pencils color well. Although the pencils do not have color names, each color has a designated number, and the top of the pencil matches the pencil lead color. I do not have to bear down hard, so no extra pressure is necessary, and although I find that some pencil leads are harder and some are softer, none of the pencils in this set seem too hard or soft. I am able to use the point to color in the little tiny spaces, and I use the longer sides for the larger areas. The pencils color smoothly, they do not rip the pages of my coloring book and the colors do not blur, or smear, and once my picture is finished, the colors do not bleed or transfer to my fingers. Additionally, many of the colors are nice and bright and ‘pop-out’ from my pictures. I am able to color one over another and a friend, (who colors as a hobby) informed me the correct terminology for this procedure is ‘blending’. Any of the pencils that wore down sharpened fast and easily in our electric pencil sharpener. I received a nice sharp point and the wood by the pencil lead was smooth and even. Since I am a novice, I don’t have anything else to add, however my friend who has more experience in this hobby tried out my new Raffine color pencils. It was her opinion that these were good quality coloring pencils and more or less on par with her Prismacolor and Crayola colored pencil sets.

I am very happy with the pencils and I think the price was ...
After spending a couple afternoons searching the internet and reading reviews... I decided to get the Raffine 72 color pencil set. I am very happy with these pencils and the price was very reasonable. Coloring was such a big part of growing up in the 60's and is just as fun now as it was back then. When we started doing the adult coloring books, we used colored pencils and markers I already had in my art supplies. We enjoyed coloring so much we wanted to look for some better quality pencils and wanted a larger selection of colors. I looked into many brands, including the "professional" grade brands. I couldn't justify spending a lot of money buying a set of the professional grade pencils for our coloring books. I came across these pencils at a good price, with many positive reviews and thought I would give them a try. We love these pencils. These are every bit as good as the professional grade pencils in my art supplies. Also, the pencils I had were smaller sets with just the basic colors. It is wonderful to have such a variety of colors and shades in this the 72 color set. These pencils are smooth. It is easy to blend and layer colors with these Raffine pencils. You can get some good shading and depth of color using just these pencils. If you combine them with other pencils and markers, you can create different looks, textures and effects. 'We use these pencils with both water based and alcohol markers and several other brands of colored pencils. These pencils work well with all of them. Use them as a base layer with magic markers over it for shading and detail OR use these pencils on top of the other markers and pencils. They are easy to sharpen with the small hand held pencil sharpeners. I read somewhere that an inexpensive eyeliner pencil actually works well. Apparently eyeliner pencils have better blades than the basic school sharpener ?? However, you wouldn't want to use an electric sharpener, it wastes a lot of the pencil. Also, the lead does not break as easily if the point size is kept smaller. The bottom line - These pencils work very well and are reasonably priced. They perform well on the paper used in all of the adult coloring books that we have tried. Added some photos 1. Mainly pencils and some marker for highlights 2. Both Pencil and Markers 3. Colored Pencils

Great pencils for the low price!
First I bought this set of 72 pencils in tin case as a gift for my child. The quality of pencils turned great. Design of the tin case looks beautiful but it's construction needs to be improved, because it does not close properly. You must fasten box with a rubber band to prevent the pencils fall from it while you are carrying it somewhere. It is also difficult to pull out the plastic container that holds half of pencils. However, even taking into account the defect of the tin case, the price for this quality pencils were fantastically good. So I bought another set in a cardboard box for myself. And it cost even cheaper. Because a cardboard box is soft and easily torn, I additionally bought the case for 72 pencils (the case in the form of book) and can not be more happy because I got a perfect case full of great quality pencils, and for an excellent price. These pencils are soft and bright. The choice of colors is quite good. They mix well and allow to color perfectly smooth and gradient. For my taste they are a little too waxy. But this is a feature that you just have to accept because all the other characteristics of these pencils are excellent. The quality of these pencils is comparable to similar quality pencils from Prismacolor, but the price is incomparable. The color palette somewhat brighter and have more pure shades than the colors of the pencils by Prismacolor. Also, these pencils are easy to sharpen: the wood remains smooth after sharpening.
