Love it so far!
We are getting older and climbing back into our houseboat was difficult with our straight ladder. We saw this and it is wonderful. Was easy to assemble and install. Directions are super easy to use. I will say that you have to assemble it in its entirety before mounting to your houseboat. I thought it might be easier to do that way, it’s not. Once assembled it bolted right down and is super sturdy. The one thing I am not a fan of is the location of the pins that hold the ladder up when not in use. It’s pretty difficult to reach them and I am using a Velcro wrap to make it easier for us. We waited way to king to buy a ladder like this. It’s worth the money.

Easy to set up and here’s why some people complained about pins not lining up
This product worked perfectly for my needs. It’s angled enough that my 3-year-old can walk down it like she’s walking down stairs. It folds up nicely and neatly out of the water. It’s easy to put together and lightweight. Some reviews almost talked me out of buying this but I’m glad I did. Some people complained that the holes for the pins did not line up. The pins are important because they hold the ladder in place when it’s folded up. Now that I’ve put it together, I know what is happening to come buyers. They are over-tightening the bolts that hold the hinging part of the ladder together. If you tighten these bolts too much, there isn’t enough play in the rotating part of the ladder and it’s difficult to slide the pin through. The bolts remain tight and secure, even when they are not cranked down to the maximum amount. So if you buy this, don’t crank them down as hard as you can. Or keep tightening them until it’s difficult to put the pins through and then back then out slightly. The instructions really should tell people to be careful not to over-tighten those hinge bolts. The ladder is made of aluminum, which is the best material for saltwater. It won’t rust or corrode. I sprayed some boeshield T-9 around the screws just to be safe. The hardware might be stainless steel or some other metal. And I used stainless screws to mount to the dock. The ladder is also light, so it’s easy to pull up when you’re done using it. Aluminum is also a little bit flimsier than other, stronger metals. But once you bolt it down to your dock, it feels very sturdy. I weigh 200 lbs and it was rock solid for me.I’m so glad I found this product. I was considering buying something that costs multiples more and this thing is perfect.

Strong and comfortable
Works great but I had to modify as; for the life of me, can't understand why the retaining pins are located at the bottom... I tried it, made zero sense, so I relocated the retaining pins to the top part of the stairs... now it works great!

Instructions horrible, missing parts, unaligned lock pin— but seems like good construction
We got the 5 step version.BASICALLY.Despite what my headline says I am confident these steps will work just fine after working out the problems. And I think they will last a long time since it is made of heavy aluminum and built decently. That is why I gave these steps a decent overall review.GOOD.The redeeming points are: the construction of the steps seems solid enough and the welds seem tight. Also, the handrails going all the way up and that, combined with the angled steps, make these much much easier than a standard ladder to use for getting in and out of the water from dock.BAD1) we had to puzzle out the instructions,2) we had to make an adjustment for the lock pin to work, and3) we had to purchase some missing parts. As is usual with many less expensive items made in some non-english speaking countries, the instructions are $#%* and, as often happens, there are missing parts. (We had to go out and purchase 4 missing washers). Also, the drawings of the parts with the hinge bolt do not really look like the part-- which made it confusing-- and the text is much too small-- so we had to puzzle out which parts went where. (See image for help figuring it out.)Here are some (hopefully) helpful notes:1. The one wider step gets mounted to the handrail assembly-- not the step assembly. (My husband attached the wide step on wrong place initially and had to start over-- if instructions were clearer this would not have been an issue.)2. The steps need only the short bolts and no other parts to attach them to the handrails. All of the other parts go with the long hinge bolts that attach the stairs to the handrail assembly so it can flip-up. (See better drawing attached)2. You will need to make the second hole that the lock pin goes through a little bit larger to allow enough wiggle for the pins to go all the way through and into the step assembly holes. (Important: Don't make the holes on the flip-down step assembly part larger or the little ball on the pin will be too loose and not click in.)I hope this info helps.Cheers

Retractable ladder
Hi use this ladder at our lake house at the boat dock. The reason why I bought this ladder is because I could pull it up and not leave it in the water to accumulate algae from the lake, it also has wider steps which is much easier to step out of the water onto the dock.

Superior ladder
The welding was top notch. Machine work was excellent. Very well designed and built. An angled swim ladder with 6 steps is the only way to go!

Happy Customer!
Very happy with this purchase. Took a while to get it but I got it as promised! We love that they flip out of the water when not in use and it is easy to pull them up. Only complaint was that the wire on the pin broke after the first week and went into the water to lock the stairs in place but we just replaced it with a stronger ring. I recommend these stairs to anyone looking for some😊 Don’t forget to buy your own mounting hardware!
