Yes, it is expensive. HP laser cartridges always are. But I've tried so many third-party brands over the years and had so much trouble with them that I just purchase the "real" thing. This "X' model gives a much longer print life than the standard cartridge, and brings the cost-per-page down a little. The cartridge works well, doesn't squeak, doesn't make strange noises, and prints with very good quality, the way you would expect it to.(I can't say the same with many of the third-party brands I've tried over the years, many of which left streaks, did not print evenly, and made noises like you thought the thing was going to seize up on itself.) So, although I'm all for "generics" with a lot of different things, when it comes to printer cartridges, I just "bite the bullet" and by real HP cartridges. It saves me a lot of trouble, yields a great print, and is dependable. So, in spite of the price, I have to give it five stars.

I print a lot from an office-grade laser printer, and I don't have patience for less-than-perfect output. I have always used HP toner in my LaserJet printers, and I have been completely satisfied.

This cartridge lasts nearly double its stated life. We are heavy users printing minimum 5-10 sheets a day and we only have to replace once a year. Awesome!! Proce per page is cheaper than most other laser and inkjet printers.

Price high, longevity makes up for it. Longterm value is good.

I do a lot of B&W printing and have found that, while this high-yield cartridge is not inexpensive, it performs well and saves money for me in the long run. I use only HP-branded cartridges for my HP printer. They are not the least expensive option but they never disappoint. After I found this high-yield version of my regular cartridge model, it has become the only cartridge I buy. Amazon's pricing for this product is competitive; I haven't found any need to buy elsewhere. For anyone who consistently does a lot of B&W printing, this cartridge provides good value over time.

the XL version of the toner seems to last longer than two of the standard toner cartridges.

In these days of mail order, you're not always sure that what you order is what you'll get. This was a genuine new cartridge and worked just as described. It was also the best price when I shopped around.

After putting up with poor print quality for a couple of years from a third party replacement cartridge I binned it and bought a HP original. It slotted in more easily and once again I have immaculate printing. You get what you pay for!
