The Last Days [DVD]

What a great apocalyptic film this is.. take no notice of the front cover of the DVD; the designer can't have watched the film. there's no spooky girls wandering about and not a single dead deer, and it's not really a horror.. but it IS a very intelligent and riveting story about a post apocalyptic future where no one can go outside anymore, and only those who stay inside can survive. I love the fact that the director chose NOT go down the more commonplace route of turning people into cannibals or lawless maniacs, but rather kept humanity flying the flag. Yes, there's a little theft and a few scuffles, but what you see is communities pulling together, sharing rations and washing their clothes. Outside, the sun shines and the skies are blue; hope is always on the horizon. The main characters just want to locate their loved ones, using the only working sat nav, and the city's web of underground sewers and tunnels to do so.

It seems to be just another normal year but slowly things change as people start to become sick. Before long the entire world is affected and society begins to decay. This film follows the story of two men who fall ill but have a determination to push through and find their families.It's important that you don't read any spoilers before you watch this film. Although the idea of the sickness is very strange, the filmmakers have expertly handled the explanation making the issue almost believable. In fact, this film is particularly well made - developing the lead characters, giving them purpose, but also cleverly revealing the illness, its progression and ultimate result.There's a bit more money spent here than your normal apocalyptic horror film - there are some decent digital effects as well as good practical effects. The acting is great and the film is shot over many locations giving a great sense of scale.This is a Spanish film with English subtitles but don't let that put you off. The disk also has a great 5.1 surround track and this is an impressive all round package.

The movie was VERY well made. cinematography, acting. The plot (at the start) reminded me of one of those shama lama ding dong movies(a puzzle to be solved). The ending reminded me of the nick cage movie "Knowing".Life lessons were learned about how the old are helpful to the young.....You know, I have no idea what this movie was trying to say to me. The innocent survive because we are all guilty? was that it? A god sent purge to start again? Don't think that scans ether, because the young would just start killing each other all over again without a major "rewireing"Enjoyable but not the best apocalyptic movie ive seen.

a lot of films start of with some other language with subtitles, you know just to set a scene. after 10 minutes or so I was hooked, it never changed to English like Amazonas says it's in. by this time I was far to interested in the film and not so much the language it was in, I'm glad it said English now otherwise I would never have watched it.It's a great film with some great Actors and Acting, great compassion and a real ending you can live with.

Firstly, its a Spanish film with subtitles, just in case you're not into films like that.That being said, I like foreign films, as they tend to sometimes touch upon things that the US/UK market never do.This is an interesting concept for a film. Over time, people start to not want to go outside, as it may kill them. Its not like its a floating virus, as they even had the doors open, breating the air, and it was fine. But step out of the door...And that's what makes this a different type of film. How do people live, if they can't go outside. Think happy thoughts for the city dwellers, they have sewers, undergrounds, supermarkets.But what happens if you were a poor sod who opted for the country living, where your only food is outside?I recommend this film, sure it has its moments that we all feel like 'what?....why didn't....?' but overall, its interesting.

Don't let other reviews put you off : The Last Days is an outstanding example of the "Ecopocalpse" genre. Just don't think too much about the cause of the unusual set-up (no spoilers), and sit back and enjoy something fresh which doesn't rely on the same old stale tropes of 100s of other zombie and plague outbreak films. With good acting and core characters, some decent set pieces, and a satisfying conclusion, at times it reminded me of BBC TV's Survivors, Twelve Monkeys, and The Girl with the Gifts. Recommended.

Clichéd, improbable, irritatingly naive, laden with nauseating machismo and badly acted. I have no idea what the point of this film is. I’m sure a great deal of work and “heart” went into it, but it’s nearly 2h of my life that I’d like back.

Really wanted to like this film as the idea was interesting. But there was nothing to grab my attention and pull me in. Story was too slow to evolve, very little action. Towards the end looked like it finally picked up and got my attention for 5 minutes but it slowed down again. I guess I am not a target audience.

Film semplice e intrigante, a chi ovviamente piace il genere come a me. Una nuova epidemia, una cosa diversa dal solito. Il blu Ray è di ottima fattura, anche l'audio non è male. Non è niente di nuovo, però tutto sommato fila via liscio. Consigliato.

Me pareció interesante la temática del fin del mundo a consecuencia de una enfermedad relacionada con el trastorno de pánico a espacios abiertos (Agorafobia) creo que llaman así la enfermedad. Bueno eso fue lo que yo entendi que era la causa del drama, La considero original ya que siempre el mundo lo acaban epidemias, virus creados, señales alteradas, plantas, terremotos, bombas atomicas, guerras, impactos de asteroides, tsunamis, tornados, muertos vivientes, invasiones extraterrestres, robots hostiles o monstruos gigantescos. Pero nunca lo había visto a consecuencia de un trastorno mental colectivo.La película no tiene secuencias de acción catastróficas como suele pasar en las grandes producciones sobre el tema del fin del mundo. No tiene efectos especiales espectaculares de destrucción pero me atrevo a decir que los pocos efectos especiales que tiene la película están muy bien logrados, En realidad lo mejor que se puede apreciar y esperar aquí es la actuación. Si es buena o mala eso esta a criterio de cada espectador, para mi entender es muy buena.Disfrute la película al punto de que la tenia en DVD (USA) y decidí comprarla en Bluray (ESPAÑA) para así incluirla en mi colección de películas sobre el fin del mundo y catástrofes en HD. no me arrepiento por que la imagen es perfecta y el sonido me pareció muy bueno. En cuanto a la pelicula como tal / la historia me pareció bien / ya que si vamos a la realidad / si esto ocurriera y uno fuese a estar encerrado en un edificio sin poder salir al exterior por miedo a morir / lo menos que uno haría es hacer DRAMA sobre el DRAMA / no hay tiempo que perder y trataría de solucionar lo mas próximo e importante para mi (en mi caso seria saber que mi madre esta bien y luego llegar a mi casa a ver mis películas en bluray) / En el caso del personaje principal de la película es encontrar a su pareja sentimental y vencer el miedo para llegar a ella. Lo inexplicable siempre lo va a ser / aunque le busque la quinta pata al gato no la vas a encontrar ya que ellos solo tienen cuatro, a menos que sean de Pandora (AVATAR) que allí tienen seis.La información que suple Amazon.es sobre el producto / Tiene un error que puede significar dinero para los consumidores de esta parte del mundo (Puerto Rico) / En la información aparece que es Región Libre (Todo el Mundo) cuando es solo Región B (Europa) / Pero no importa por que así me obligo comprarle a AMAZON.ES un reproductor SONY para poder ver la película (Jajajajajaja que mal me va) pero no me arrepiento por que ahora puedo adquirir películas que jamás llegan a mi Isla en el formato HD. y no tengo que verlas en la computadora en una mala resolución en sitios piratas. Esta fue mi primera ya tengo 12 películas Región B. AMAZON.ES es perfecto para adquirir cualquier articulo importado Fácil / Rápido y Seguro.

Tourné à Barcelone, ville d'origine des réalisateurs Álex et David Pastor, « Los últimos días » bénéficie d'un budget plus conséquent que leur premier long-métrage « Infectés » et figure parmi ce qui se fait de mieux en matière de cinéma fantastique en Espagne actuellement.La chose est possible grâce à un scénario surprenant et inédit, qui explore de nouveaux horizons : une mystérieuse épidémie se répand à travers le monde, obligeant les humains à rester cloîtrés ou sous terre sous peine de mourir foudroyés dès qu'ils sortent. Cette épidémie appelée « la Panique » ravage le monde en quelques semaines. Trois mois plus tard, Marc, jeune informaticien bloqué sur son lieu de travail, décide de rejoindre sa compagne Julia à l'autre bout de la ville en arpentant les tunnels du métro et les égouts en compagnie d'Enrique, employé aux Ressources Humaines et ennemi juré du jeune homme, alors que tout autour d'eux, la société s'est effondrée et que la fin se profile....L'originalité du scénario se manifeste dès le début : le film alterne scènes de forte tension avec un rythme plus lent destiné à donner davantage d'épaisseur aux personnages ainsi qu'aux relations humaines. Les causes de l'épidémie ne sont pas expliquées mais les effets dévastateurs n'en sont pas moins visibles. Pour une fois, ce n'est pas une banale histoire d'humains tentant de survivre à une invasion de zombies. Et la fin réserve une surprise avec un message explicite.Ensuite, il faut reconnaître un travail de photographie aux décors saisissants et magnifiques qui font de Barcelone un véritable personnage dans ce film. Qu'il s'agisse de vues panoramiques de la capitale catalane ravagée et désertée ou d'éclairages avec torches dans les tunnels du métro et égouts de la ville, l'impact sur la rétine reste le même. Les incrustations numériques sont d'ailleurs tout à fait discrètes et totalement anxiogènes dans ce film au rendu visuel épatant qui n'est pas rappeler "Je suis une légende". L'effet est réussi. L'image est en tous points splendide sur ce film passé inaperçu en France.A scénario consistant, personnages consistants : Quim Gutiérrez, José Coronado et Marta Etura (déjà aperçue dans l'excellent film de SF « Eva ») portent littéralement sur leurs épaules le film et leur interprétation brille par sa justesse et l'émotion qu'elle génère chez le spectateur. Cela mérite d'être dit car les films fantastiques dans lesquels les personnages sont étoffés ne sont pas si courants que ça. Muy buena película distópica narrada en Barcelona. Muy entretenida, emotiva e interesante. SIn grandes alarges de efectos especiales, se la recomiendo.
