How much of it do I need to put on canon are-1?

I don’t use this oil on cameras, but the equipment I use it on only needs a film. My technique is to wet a q-tip, then wipe it over the surface to be lubricated.

Has anyone used this oil on the metal pins or hinges for plantation-style wooden shutters?

Certainly this oil would lubricate your shutter pins. It's a light, pure, machine oil. But any oil you have at hand would also do the job, such as 3-in-1, WD-40 or a silicone-based lubricant. In fact, the latter two would make better choices because they would offer more resistance to weather. After all, the WD in WD-40 stands for "water displacement." Whatever you use, you will want to reapply it as the years pass.

How does this differ from nyoil ii ?

I use NYOIL religiously, it truly is the best gun oil on the market. But I have to admit you caught me on this question, I wasn't aware of the NYOIL thin film product. I don't have any idea what it's used for. Sorry.
