Peeling potatoes for a soup or apples for an apple pie doesn't have to take all afternoon thanks to this unique appliance. The electric peeler can automatically peel up to two pounds in one to four minutes. Simply place several potatoes into the bowl, snap on the cover, and turn on the power switch--the electric peeler takes care of the rest. Its see-through cover allows for safely checking on the peeling progress at a glance. A bonus salad-spinner attachment comes included for drying leafy vegetables in no time. The unit's removable bowl and peeling disc clean quickly by hand or in the dishwasher, and the cord stores inside the base when not in use. The electric peeler measures 15 by 15 by 16 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Like it a lot....
I like this very much. It does a pretty good job. It doesn't get everything as you have to remove the 'eyes' yourself if there are any. I just got mine this spring and the potatoes I used were old, wrinkled and hard to peel. It did a great job anyway. I think with newer potatoes it would be almost perfect. The only problem I see is that it jumps all over the counter and is very noisy. You cannot leave it and need to keep your hands on it for the full 4 minutes. But, if you hate to hand-peel potatoes, this is the quickest and best way to do it.I also used the lettuce spinner. That worked excellent and only took a few seconds to dry the amount I had put in it. I have used a manual spinner for years as I always have a garden in summer and need to wash my lettuce well before using. This is going to be a real time-saver this summer.

Peels great when used properly.
We use this when we need to peel a lot of potatoes. If using Idaho potatoes (the big, long ones), you need to cut them in half. And then, only put no more than 3 of the halves in the machine. Turn the machine on, and be sure to hold on to it by pressing down on the lid or else it will vibrate off of the counter. This also helps stabilize the machine so it works correctly. Then let it do it's magic. Keep a watch through the lid so you will be able to tell when the potatoes are done. One note, the potatoes will not come completely clean (like they do when one peels them by hand), and they will have rounded edges from where they were cut in half. You will need to wash them off, and then empty the electric peeler before the next batch. However, once you prepare them for whatever you're cooking them in, looks don't matter (unless you are a renowned chef - I'm not). Overall, it works as stated. Product was shipped and received as promised.

I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS ITEM
Its not great and its not terrible so I would like to give it 2-1/2 stars, but Amazon does not provide for 1/2 stars. It is very noisy, but I can deal with that for a few minutes. It cannot handle whole potatoes - even medium size ones jam it up. I had to cut them in half. It took 3 loads to do 2 pounds of medium size potatoes. Perhaps if you use "new" potatoes, you may not have to cut them in half. The potatoes come out as little white "balls" - you lose a lot of the potato. It does beat hand peeling. However, I discovered that if you boil the potatoes with skin on, the skin peels off very easily with your fingers. A good thing about the machine is that it does clean up easily. However, if I had known all this , I probably would not have bought it.

Pretty Cool!
Ok... I confess, I have only used this once. Ok, I have another confession...my wife used it once and, "Hey Mikey, she liked it!" She hates to clean,... um refuses to clean kitchen related gadgets that I purchase; when they are #1. Hard to clean, or #2. Do not function as advertised! This thing basically cleans itself:) First pitfall averted:) Now on to the "peeling of the potatoes"....there is enough room, or so it appears, to skin 6 small, 4-5 med or 3 large potatoes per cycle. All she did was add water (we skinned 6 small spuds) they spun around for about 2min and they were all peeled completely except where the spuds had eyes. IT WORKS!( second pitfall cleared). Anywhoo, the potatoes are so thinly sliced that the only mess is what appears to be muddy water in the bottom section of the peeler. Empty that and you are ready for round 2....3.....etc. Will it work long term? Dont know, but if it works for Thanksgiving and Christmas each year (fresh mashed), Thats good enough for us! If it breaks I will simply purchase another one, peeling potatoes manually just plain SUX!-besides, the cost is very reasonable...Just My 2 cents, your mileage may vary. Good Luck!

Presto Peel a Meal
TDhis small appliance is OK for peeling potatoes if you select the right size potato. One must leave about 11/2 inches between the center of the grater and the sides which limits the selection range of use to rather small spuds. This is not ideal for french fries since the fry is relatively short. I am disappointed in this limitation and in the appliance in general. Since the product has little to no description on the amazon summary, I had to wait until I received it to find out this limitation. It is quite inconvenient to have to size potatoes to get the appliance to perform correctly. Also, the longer potatoes are left to remove the entire peel, the more white potato is ground off thus increasing wastage of useable vegetable. If I knew what I now know before ordering, I would not have purchased the Presto 02905 Peel A Meal Electric Peeler.

Sounds good BUT!
It sounds like a great idea. It doesn't really work all that well. I have followed all of the directions and get less than excellent results.I can do it faster with a potato peeler. And now having something to measure it against can say that it is easier to peel them by hand. It does work but slowly and not as well as I expected. It is a slow and very messy process. The machine itself is easy to clean but just not worth the effort to me. I have used it twice and plan on turning loose of it at my next garage sale!

Didn't work as well as I had hoped.
Of course potatoes aren't shaped perfectly, so any area where the potato indents still has peeling left on it. Which happens to be most of the potato. It peels the ends very well but the body still has to be peeled by hand. My husband peeled 6 potatoes as fast as the presto peeler did and I still had to peel the areas that it missed. So it was faster doing it by hand, not necessarily easier.

Mashed Apples
I tried using this peeler for peeling apples, but it did a horrible job. I used apples that were 2-3" in diameter (supposedly perfect size), but this peeler really shredded my apples. It works by using a rotating grater that tumbles the food around and grinds the skins away. Unfortunately, I found that it took a long time to peel, really mashed my food and did not completely remove the peels. After trying three batches, I gave up and peeled the rest by hand. Since it did more or less peel the apples, I'll give it a rating of two stars, but I certainly would not recommend this product. A novel idea but poor execution.
