Great little salamander grill
I have had this for several months now. It lives on the side-table of my gas grill and gets used pretty frequently. It is very similar to the german models costing $800 plus, and I got mine from Amazon while on a special deal for under a third of that price. The only slight flaw is the excessive amount of time that the gas control needs to be held down (with the igniter sparking all the while) before the sensing element gets hot enough to keep the valve open. Placing the sensor a little closer to the heater would have made that a lot faster. Otherwise it is fiercely hot, sears meat and fish beautifully and is a great companion to the sous vide, producing a wonderful reverse sear. It will also cook steaks without pre-cooking, though it takes a little time to learn how to get the distance and heat level perfect for any particular thickness of the meat. Sous vide makes that trivially easy. This is built solidly from thick stainless steel throughout, and it is simple to clean.

This broiler works wonderfully!
I was worried by some of the negative reviews, but after receiving this broiler, I can say it works great! It's easy to use and get's very hot. I've found myself putting my steaks much lower in the racks than I had anticipated. I've used it for both sous vide and raw steaks, and it does both to perfection. I've also used it to brown sous vide sausages with great success. It's one of the few that I've seen that is large enough for two large steaks at the same time. It's built well. I anticipate using it for a long time.

AVOID...!!! Does NOT light easily and nearly impossible to re-light when hot
DO NOT BUY..... Very difficult to light. Once it is heated up, it is nearly impossible to re-light. Ruined several great Ribeyes and a lobster tail, because I could not get it to re-light. I can't believe they make this with such a key flaw and do NOT figure out how to fix this. Many reviews online with same issue. So disappointed...!!!

Good to very good product. Very good value.
Adjustable height combined with overhead heat source is a really good cooking combination. Definitely some learning curve on how to cook in this new way.Getting the unit to light is counter intuitive. Check out Youtube for the proper technique - And NO, you will most likely not figure this out on your own until you have spilled some red wine down the front of your shirt.Assembly was easy except for front extension. I needed about 4 tries from different angles, plus a "gentle nudge" from a hammer.Spent the money for their cover. It is no better than OK as it doesn't cover that pesky front extension. Note that some, if not all, of the photos from GYBER fail to show the extension as uncovered. Not a big big deal, but am still left wondering why companies feel the need to hide the "the truth and nothing but the truth" from their customers. We are big boys and girls that can handle it.

great!
We've already used it quiet a bit after just getting it a couple of weeks ago. Seems to be well made, easy to use. Have made 1.5" thick beef steaks, perfection. Pork steak, also perfection. Pizza, really nice also. I have two wood fired pizza ovens, but that takes time to heat up, where as with this you turn it on and let the stone heat while you prepare your pizza; good size for a single serving pizza and very fast. The peel that comes with it is also perfect for its purpose. It really is a good value for the money.

Bad Manufacturing
Build material was better than expected based on pictures and video I watched. I haven't used it yet.The igniter was dead on arrival, no sparks whatsoever. I took it apart to see what the deal was and it ended up being a grounding issue with the battery module. There is a ground ring in the inside of the casing that is supposed to contact the stainless steel on the inside of the case when the battery cover is screwed on. It looks like the assemblers are aware of the issue, but they roughed up the outside of the casing instead of the inside where the ring makes contact. I removed a burr and roughed up the inside of the casing where the ring makes contact and sparks where flying when I got it all back together.Based on the instructions (for another model) it wasn't clear what way the igniter battery went in, but then I saw on the battery cap it has an illustration that doesn't stand out unless you happen to spot it. There's no contrast on the lettering/diagram so it's kind of hard to spot.

This is one very nice product...I love it!
The media could not be loaded. There is a learning curve here cause this thing is HOT! Keep your pizza lower than a steak of course.

Beats paying $1k+ for similar name brand broiler
I've been looking to buy an infrared salamander type home grill for awhile. Looked seriously at the Otto Wilde, Beefer and Northfire infrared grills which have models from $400 to $1,000. Saw the Gyber Boulder and it was under $300 with what looked like a larger cooking area.Shipping was fast, setup very easy and used the grill within 45 minutes of opening box. Grill heated fast and seared my sous vide cooked sirloin steaks perfectly. So far I love this grill.Curiously, the manual refers to the grill as "Beefer" throughout the manual. Makes me think "Beefer" manufactured this grill as a lower price model.
