Meno, book three, Yummy Trip
I think children like/understand these books because it's written for children, simple, few words but always makes him giggle, book 1, Big Fun, is the best.

The illustrations are adorable and the characters have such fantastic expressions
I am torn on how to feel about this board book series by the always fabulous Tony DiTerlizzi. The illustrations are adorable and the characters have such fantastic expressions. However the sentence structure is written all squirrely and backward.Example:Instead of saying: I will call my friend named Wishi; the book says: “Meno call friend of name Wishi.”While this way of speaking may sound quirky and cute coming out of Meno’s mouth I would be upset to see young readers picking up his poor grammatical speaking skills.

We love Meno
I was a little put off when I first started reading this book to my 3 year old. I stopped in the middle and shook my head. When I closed it, my daughter yelled "Yamagoo"! She laughed herself into a fit! She had me read it over and over and over again. I was very impressed. She is not a book reader. It is difficult to keep her still for two minutes. I knew this was something special and immediately purchased the rest of the series. We enjoy them all!

Like other reviewers
Like other reviewers, my 3 year old picked this up from the library today. I started reading it and thought it was some badly-translated rip-off book. Nope. A little internet research has led me to believe that the authors wrote this book from a English-as-a-second-language perspective on purpose. While I am totally unimpressed with this book, I will say that it provided a lot of entertainment for my husband and me when we thought it was written by someone who hardly spoke English. I'm glad I didn't spend any money on this.

nice illustrations, horrible English
My 3 year old daughter picked it up from the library. I just read it to her. It's going back to the library: nice illustrations, horrible English. I don't want to model poorly constructed sentences based on Japanese grammar for my child who is learning English.

Horrible horrible book, holy crap this is awful
I read this book to my daughter tonight and after the first page had to improvise the entire book out of fear the actual narration would set her back in brain development.. We live in Japan and I'm not joking at all when I say I thought this was written by the Japanese to help kids learn English. If you want your child to stay in diapers for the rest of their lives by all means buy this book and read it to them but if you would like them to become at least a C average student stay away. I have no idea how any of these book got a 5 star rating.

How do some of these books get published???
Thought this is EASY to read and the illustrations are cute, the language in this book is horrible!!! Here's a sample from the book: "We are at place of eat. Please to put down big napkin! Please to get spork! Please to get choco-o-snack! Choc-o-snack! Where chock-o-snack? Uh0oh Zanzibar!" Horrible grammar!
