Super SureFire Flashlight
I own several SureFire flashlights, more than I care to count but as SureFire increases the Lumen and design features of these flashlights, I look at these as a very useful tool to have and have to have it! This one has dual fuel which means you can insert the rechargeable battery and plug it in (wall or auto) to juice it back up. I also really like the button on the head of the flashlight. I find that I use that more than the tail switch. With the head switch you still can get (3) levels of lighting from 1000 lumens down to two other presets. I can't think of the other levels of light (lumens) but this power house flashlight is the best flashlight I own. Rarely do I need the full blast of 1000 lumens and mainly use the lower levels which allows the battery to last a good long time. Being able to insert the Lithium Ion 123 batteries (Qty.3) into this flashlight is a great feature. The only thing I wished it came with or as an accessory was a separate charing unit to be able to charge the battery unit while out of the flashlight. I haven't seen such a thing yet. This is a very high end flashlight and I would recommend it to anyone wanting the best. SureFire has more costly flashlights with incredible power, but this one has all the features and power I could ask for...Super Flashlight!

... the customer service with Surefire has been a huge disappointment. The first flashlight I purchased on Dec
This product as well as the customer service with Surefire has been a huge disappointment. The first flashlight I purchased on Dec. 25th, by February would not charge properly.I sent back to Surefire in March as was told my order would be expedited as I am LEO and use it daily. After a month plus no flashlight. After calling a replacement was sent. The new product will spontaneously come on and do a great job of illuminating me while in my duty belt. The only way I can get it to turn off is to pull the battery. This happened in roll call one day and you can imagine how many other officers were interested in a flashlight that does that at the price point Surefire demands. Because of the time frame. I am stuck with dealing with Surefire again because Amazon will not except a return on the item any longer. The light is bright and casts a wide beam but I have a very sour taste in my mouth from the experience. I can only hope that Surefire will do me better on this go round with customer service and I am not stuck with a $400.00 paper weight. On another note the price on this product has dropped almost $90.00 since I ordered. Could be a clue.

The flashlight itself is great! I wish there was a constant on function for the button on the rear, but oh well. My only complaint with my purchase is with the seller, not the flashlight. They made my first and last name all one word, and UPS had trouble finding it due to this upon pick up. Tsk tsk.

Piece of Crap
I ordered 3 of these lights, and at first glance they are great. They are bright, recharge quick, hold a charge and do what they are supposed to do. Within 30 days, all 3 of the lights would randomly come on for no reason at all. They were not being touched in any way and that awesome brightness was perfect for illumination - of me. We sent 2 back to Surefire because of that issue and we got new ones - that did the same thing after a month. Never again.

Dynamite light.
I just got this light, but I am very impressed so far. It has extreme, long-range brightness with power settings for two lower brightness levels. There is also a strobe option. There are about 3 ways to turn the light on: In addition to the button on the tail, there is a button near the head of the light which allows for the different power settings after those settings have been "programmed" from the tailpiece. It's relatively easy to program -- just follow the simple instructions in the manual... The light came with the rechargeable battery pack PLUS the battery pack with 2 disposable 123 batteries. Changing them is easy. There is also a charger for car charging. The wall charger has several different adaptors (for charging in foreign countries, etc.).. There is a power light to let you know when the battery is getting weak. The battery pack doesn't have to be removed from the light to charge; there is a plug in the side of the light for that... It seems rugged, strong, durable and has rubber O-rings to prevent water penetration. (This is NOT a SCUBA light, though). My one concern is whether I will be able to get replacement rechargeable packs for it; they are not available so far, apparently not even from Surefire. I expect the after-markets to be selling those soon, however.

I love Surefire products. But this one is disappointing.
As a LEO I am a fan of Surefire. Although pricier than competitor products, they are usually worth the extra money for their features and reliability. This Surefire R1, however, is not. I owned a rechargeable Streamlight Stinger LED (Max 650 Lumens) that I used for patrol and recently lost it. Although initially wanting to just replace the light, I decided I'd give this Lawman a try because of the higher lumens and because it's Surefire. The light thrown from the light has a green tint to it which is horrible and takes away from the effective lumens-a pure white light like my old Streamlight would've been much better. As a matter of fact, I found my pure white 650 Lumen Streamlight much more effective than this 1k lumen Surefire. Additionally, I don't like the memory function of this light. To switch between modes/outputs you must quickly use the head switch until you reach your desired output. When you turn it off and turn it back on, it resorts back to your last used setting. When I'm searching a vehicle at 15 lumens and turn off my light, the next time I turn on my light (imagine now I'm searching for a suspect) I don't want my light at 15 lumens. I wish the light would always default to 1000 lumens and have you adjust each time you turn it on. I own several other Surefire products and still love the company, but this Surefire R1 Lawman doesn't make the cut for patrol use. Going back to my Streamlight.
