Amazing welder, incredible deal
I bought this refurbished for what I thought was an almost too good to be true low price. I'd never used a mig wire feed welder before and the last time I welded was 1982-1984 in high school Metal Shop class using stick welder and also oxy-acetalyne welder. I was fairly proficient with the stick welder back then, so I was hoping I could pick k this up quickly. Don't pay attention to any reviews here complaining about the cheap face mask included: at these low prices ANY extra equipment included is a bonus. Yes, the FREE mask doesn't come with an auto-darkening glass shield but those cost as much as half this welders sticker price! (And millions of welders, myself included, trained to weld without the luxury of auto-darkening masks. If you really need one you can pick up a used one very cheap, and use the extra money left from all you saved buying this welder). As another reviewer mentioned, I had it set up and ready to lay a bead within 5 minutes of unboxing. I was nervous as I started, but those apprehensions disappeared immediately when I took a look at the bead I'd just put down. It wasn't pretty, by any measure, but it was adequate enough to encourage me to keep welding and learning this machine. I can already see big improvements and am excited be able to finally start tackling a bunch of projects I'd put off because I didn't own a welder. If you want to weld BUY THIS WELDER. YOU WON'T REGRET IT. (But have realistic expectations for the free welding mask as well as your own skills if you haven't welded lately/before).

Seems great but you need to buy a welding helmet before you can begin using it.
So far seems like a great product for the money. In fact it’s pretty amazing how much you get here for the money. Set up is fairly easy and straightforward. As a total beginner though you do have a problem With the eye shield they provide you. it is too dark and so you literally cannot see a thing that you’re doing. Welding in the dark is just about impossible. On top of that to save money they do not give you a helmet but rather a flat plate that you have to hold in front of your eyes with one of your hands. Welding with one hand, especially for a beginner, especially in that odd position,is going to be nearly impossible unless you have the steadiness of a brain surgeon and the sixth sense to do it in the dark. So what you have to do is invest in a decent auto darkening helmet. $30 or more .That should make all the difference in the world. When you’re not welding it lets you see what you are doing to get in position and then when you start welding it instantly darkens to protect your eyes. And when you stop welding it stays dark for a split second so that the weld area which is still giving off radiation does not damage your eyes.Just returned machine. Could not load new spool of wire. Nothing in manual about how to load second spool. I could not pull old wire out of gun or pull it back from inside the machine. Somewhere I read about lubricating the wire and pulling gun straight so when you pull wire out it is not forced to go around curves ? Also, a few reviews said the machine ran hot. Seems so. With 1/8 mild steel it burned though steel before I could get much of puddle anywhere. There is little adjustment of current the way there is on more expensive machines which have dials with infinite adjustment. Somehow the lowest current seems too high on this machine. That said I see this machine everywhere under many brand names and in many colors. So maybe some are able to make it work.

Don't be scared to buy this welder. It's impressive.
I have used this welder a few times and so far it's exceeded my expectations. Everything has worked prefectly fine. Even the over heating protection works. I used it for about 30-40 minutes the third time I used it and the heating protection light went on. I let it cool off over night and the next day I started welding again. I welded the rest of my project in which I laid down the last 12 feet of welds and it worked great. I pushed this thing to the limit and it held its own. I need to find a dedicated outlet in my shop for it because it will trip an under powered circuit if your not careful. But you just flip the breaker and keep going. You just have to pay attention to the duty cycle and go slow with your welds. I plan on starting to use my generator so I can weld outside of my shop. These gassless Flux core welders make a lot of spatter. That's just the way all of these types of welders are. It's just the nature of this method. If you don't want the spatter then save up and buy a mig welder with the shielding gas. I was scared to buy this because I didn't have the money to waste on a piece of garbage and this thing is a really good welder if you are using it on small fun projects. The piece I welded held all of my body weight bouncing up and down on it and it held me. I'm well over 200 lbs so that says something about the welds it makes. I used the spool of Flux core wire that came with the unit and a spool and a half of the Lincoln electric flux core wire. So total, I've almost used 3 pounds of Flux core welding wire so far. I love using this thing. It's fun but protect yourself. I have a good helmet, gloves, and a welding apron but I still managed to burn my ankles. Wear proper gear with these welders. They make a lot of spatter. I can't stress that enough.

Worked for a year with occasional use
When I first got the welder it worked well, went through the supplied wire and about half of another roll. I was about halfway through welding up a bigger project and the wire feed motor started to act up intermittently feeding, so I let it sit overnight to cool, and the next day replaced the contact tip and feed some new wire through and checked the tension on the wire feed, the wire still was not feeding correctly and I tried to continue using it but after about 10 seconds of welding it stopped feeding the wire completely. and the wire feed motor is no longer running when the trigger is on. Overall I'm not upset, after all it is a very cheap welder and it is what it is.
