This is a great part of my daily shaving routine, I got into traditional wet shaving about six months ago when I decided to get a safety razor, some good blades, a brush and a shaving soap, I could see and feel the difference vs the cartridge razor and canned foam/gel I was using before (I was a Gillette man for 24 years) almost immediately...After six months, my little Van der Haagen starter soap that I bought at my local Target had run out, I needed some shaving stuff and I turned to Amazon to get what I wanted because I wanted to try something other than the soap (which was great) and, after doing some research, I decided to get some cream (Taylor of Old Bond Street Peppermint) and, just out of curiosity and to see what all the excitement was about, I also got me this cream... WOW!!I have never used a pre shave treatment before and, having tried this for the last couple of weeks, I can't understand why I didn't before, my face feels really smooth after I shave and there is no discomfort, I do shave every day (Monday thru Friday, resting on the weekend), and maybe this is only in my mind, but I feel that the more I use this stuff, the better my shave gets!!I have to say that when I got the cream tub I was a bit worried because, to me, it appeared to be rather small, but upon trying it, I realized that it is more that enough. The cream itself has a creamy, light texture and a bright color (kinda like Mother of Pearl), it features the delicious, warm, earthy, woodsy scent of sandalwood, which is a bit intense without being overbearing (and I love the way it combines with the freshness of the TOBS peppermint shaving cream), it applies very easily to my wet face (I only need a little bit of cream because it goes a long way) and, most importantly, it does and excellent job, it protects my skin and works together with the shaving cream to give me a close, silky smooth shave with no irritation... and to top it all off, the price is right!!If you're thinking about this cream, get it, you won't regret it!!....

One might argue whether a pre-shave cream would really make a difference for a wet shave, but I can honestly say the Proraso product seems to live up to its promise! I already shave with the Coarse Beard shaving soap (with the sandalwood scent and shea butter) and a brush, and have gotten excellent results, though my beard has a few straggly spots that need another pass below the chin (one reason I like making lather- I can always touch up without bothering with a can). I also intermittently use a double-edge blade and alternate shaves with a five-blade cartridge.However, today I used the pre-shave cream in the same "Coarse Beard" sandalwood scent first. Damp face, a fingertip of the cream (very moisturizing), spread it over my beard, then whipped up lather and applied it. My shave went smoothly as usual, but I truly noticed that I almost didn't need a second pass. In fact, I really didn't need to apply another brush of lather, as the cream kept my neck nicely smooth and let the blade glide over everything without any pulling or razor burn!This made a believer out of me; the Proraso pre-shave cream really works, and that little bit added an additional layer of glide protection and smoothness I hadn't expected. I can't guarantee it'll work for everyone, but for my tough beard, it made my shave even better. And it smells GOOD!

It works as advertised definitely a difference in my shave and it smells incredible going to try the shaving cream when I run out of my current one definitely a must grab if you want a better shave

good stuff this Proraso pre shave cream...I'm reviewing the red label pre shave but have used the green label too. Both are essential (IMNSHO) for a good shave. Listen!, I use Proraso pre shave cream *every* shave, or I don't shave. Simple as that. Also, I use it under a barber towel, and a shave soap face lathered. My process:Wet face, with warm/hot water on a face cloth for 10 seconds, then I apply Proraso pre shave cream all over and into my beard, then I build a lather using shave soap with a shave brush, on top of this pre shave cream. While all of this is going on, I have already soaked a hand towel in my sink, in hot water, wrung out but still plenty damp, the towl now goes into my microwave oven on a large oval plate (think turkey platter=:-) I heat this wet/damp towel on high for 3 minutes then remove using a pair of tongs, wave the h9ot towel around to rid of excess BTU's, so it's still hot but not too hot to handleI then place the barber towel on top of the pre shave cream and shave soap lather, holding the four corners of the towel behind my headWhy go through this?The pre shave cream and shave soap is worked into my skin with the shave brush. What is hap0pening, the brush exfoliates my skin, the cream tones the skin while the shave soap cleanses it, and the hot wet towel helps to lift the dirt from my skin poresAgain, I always prep this way before shaving. After the hot wet towel is left on until the t9owel starts to cool off I wipe off any remaining soap and re-lather for the first pass. Subsequent passes do not get the pore shave cream againI probably spend 30 minutes shaving this way, and wouldn't have it any other way. Others may have better and different ideas

2nd order, raises my facial hair for easy shaving/removal. Smells good, washes off easily. Will purchase again.

This saved my face, I have sensitive skin but my beard is tough. Water helps and with this product my shaving cream goes the extra mile. Very easy to apply and washes off nicely.
