Argentina (Inglés) (LONELY PLANET) Review: Buy the paperback- I own both kindle and paperback - I must say that this travel guide was incredibly helpful for my first trip to Argentina. The guide includes a map, helpful hints to plan your trip( which helped me maximize funds), great cultural background, and a survival guide to Argentina. Also, the 'do not miss' sections were incredibly valuable. I found other travelers who stayed for a longer period of time than I did, hadn't experienced nearly half of the do not miss sections I visited after reading this guide. Unfortunately, I was disappointed navigating through contents using the kindle edition, so within an hour of struggling with the kindle links, I had to order the paperback version. With that said, this is an incredible guide. I was lucky to travel with my husband, so we were able to read information at the same time. He just had to struggle with the kindle while I read the paperback. Hehe. I have been buying lonely planet guides in paperback since then. I highly recommend the following LP guides:Ireland, Boston, Galapagos, Montreal, and Alaska. Review: Great for our trip to Patagonia - This is all we needed for our trip to Patagonia. We went to El Calfate for Perito Moreno Glacier. Then, to Puerto Natales to get into Torres del Paine national park for a 4 day hike. From there, we went to Punta Arenas and saw the penguin colony at Isla Magdelena. Then, ending our Patagonian trip in Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego. The guide gave good info on lots of shops, restaurants, museums, and sights. AND, for our purposes this had all the info we needed about Chile. I also bought the LP for Chile & Easter Island and ended up not taking it because everything we needed was covered here. We ended our trip in Buenos Aires, which is covered extensively and has a great listing of restaurants, shops, museums, and other highlights. Wish we could have spent more time in Argentina. I want to go back to Mendoza and wine country, and more of the restaurants and sights listed in Buenos Aires. Overall, good coverage. Didn't need the separate book for Chile for our trip. If we needed more information or directions, the guide pointed us to the right places to ask for it.

Better than other 4 options for RoadTrips
I sat down and looked at 4 other options for Books on visiting Argentina. This one is great for those planning to road trip and visit other smaller cities. You can investigate all the smaller cities and look at other places to eat/sleep and visit. Pictures and recommended excursions are also indicated here. If you are traveling on tours or on a highend budget, then this book may not suit you. DK Eyewitness book may be better for those on tours, but both have great pictures and highlights. A map in the back on Buenos Aires is included.. almost a freebie! I would recommend this to anyone 18-50, who plans on freelance, unguided travel through Argentina. I cannot complain much about this book, other than the pages are really thin so be gentle with those book.

Oh dear
I swear by Lonely Planet guides and use them whenever we travel. Good info, good maps and usually good picks for the accomodation but the ebook i found hard to use. No index or page nos. Cant just flick through, backwards and forwards. Can save with a bookmark but the words that mark the place arent always the ones that help you know why you saved it. The section you want is halfway down th page but the words refer to something at the top of the page!!! Maybe the book should come with a how to use!!!!! Much lighter having my guides on my ipad but then I wont be looking them up on a street corner will I !

Not recommended for kindle
As the other kindle reviewers have pointed out this format doesn't really work for kindle. Not well linked, so youre easily lost. Many maps unreadable. LP make the proviso on the first pages- that the maps don't render well in all e-readers, and you can download them or print them out freely, well, this seems one reason why you might not buy this product. Information itself within the book is to LPs usual standards, but when this ebook is sold as a kindle product on Amazon it should be formatted as such!

So far, so good.
This is what I expected it to be. I trust and enjoy LP guides and was equally pleased with this one. I enjoy the addition of color photos. Estimates of prices seem too low even though this book was updated in 2012, but inflation is crazy in Argentina right now so I suppose that is to be expected. Argentina is a big country and I'll only be visiting 3 places, so I am only using a small portion of this book, keep that in mind when you purchase. I recommend the Moon Guide for Buenos Aires as an accompaniment, if you plan on spending a few extra days in BA. It's very thorough.

Best Comprehensive Travel Guide
Of all the travel guides for countries I've visited, this guide has been the most helpful. I used it for months to plan my honeymoon and it did not disappoint. Every dining recommendation was on point - from local comfort food in El Calafate to close door restaurants in Buenos Aires. They helped us narrow down travel and accommodation options in Patagonia. And after cross checking and supplementing plans with TripAdvisor, that's all you really need for a great trip.

Cette édition est plus légère et mieux illustrée que les précédentes , la sortie en français est prévue début décembre , too late for me...

I bought this book after trying to plan for some time a lengthy trip to Argentina, using a Rough Guide. I am far happier with this one! Printed on lightweight paper (after all, I'll be lugging it with me), but absolutely crammed with information, including the very helpful (and missing from many other books) logistics information about getting from a to b to j. All of these series vary in quality, depending on the particular authors - but this LP guide is excellent and up-to-date. Highly recommended.

Lonely Planet are my favourite travel guides, and I particularly like the clear maps they provide for anywhere in the country you're likely to want to go. They've introduced more colour to the guides, which make them more visually attractive and user-friendly. I took this on a trip to Argentina and found it very useful for sightseeing and restaurant information.

Good current information. We will be stopping in a couple of places on our "round South America cruise" and then inland from Buenos Aires to Mendoza and area. We are using this book a lot for places to stay and places to dine. Highly recommended. Nice to have a book to hold and be able to "dog ear" the best spots.
