It works just as described!

This is the second wireless fence system I have used. The first was much more expensive and well known, also purchased from Amazon many years ago. Having used a high quality system first, it is obvious there are issues with the design of this product.List of issues: No battery backup on the transmitter. If power fails your pet will be shocked. Unit does not turn back up after power resumes. When powered up, unit defaults to smallest containment distance (not last setting). Distance to trigger shock varies greatly even when retracing the same path. Small buildings or structures in your yard may block signal and trigger collar Collar must be turned on each use, when doing so the same beep is emitted as the shock warning. Very disturbing for your pet. System uses 2.4 ghz, commonly used for home WiFi and is prone to interfere with your WiFi and potentially operate inconsistently because of home WiFi. Range is much less than listed. Line of sight for my unit was about 200' at the maximum setting. Much less with obstacles. I could not walk around the house at the greatest setting without triggering a warning. No adjustment for shock strength. Battery for the collar does not run that long but is rechargeable.Overall the price of this unit is very good. Adding a battery backup to the system could mitigate some of the problems but does greatly increase the overall cost of the system. Not having to constantly buy new batteries is also a cost savings but collar needs to be charged after each use.I am returning this unit and spending a little more for a system with some additional safety features.
