Nice watch

First note: The face-on, first image they've posted for this watch does not accurately reflect the color of the metal casing. The side-view & subsequent pictures do. I notified Amazon about this discrepancy but as of the date of this writing I see they have yet to change anything.Second note: I immediately removed the stock silicone strap and replaced it with my own nylon NATO-style strap, so this review reflects nothing about the stock silicone strap's functionality, attractiveness, durability, comfort, etc. This is a nice watch! Some people on Timex's home site who reviewed it complained heavily about the chronograph hands stopping not in the "12 o'clock/upright" position when stopped and reset, but in the watch's (online, downloadable) user manual, it directly addresses such a circumstance and the directions for how to operate a function that will put them back in the straight upright origin position, should this happen, are right there. This has not happened to my watch yet when using the chrono functions, and the one time I thought it had, it was rather a matter of me having pushed a button that started the split/lap function instead of the stop & then the reset buttons. When I realized what'd happened and *really* stopped & reset it, the chrono hands returned exactly to their "12 o'clock" positions like you'd expect them to.Briefly: 1. Read the manual before operating your watch. 2. Benefit. It takes a slight acclimation period to get used to the fact that the largest, orange hand (usually a watch's "seconds" hand) on this watch is NOT the main, watch "seconds" hand. It is the main chronograph seconds-elapsed hand. The watch's main seconds-hand is the bottom-most chrono circle, which is tiny. But the hand there does move with the normal watch time function, so you do know your watch is alive & functioning, that way.The watch case is brass (with a stainless steel case back), so it is quite heavy. The glass has gotten banged on mine a couple of times on surfaces that *could* have scratched weak or thin glass, possibly...and the glass is fine. (Those knocks/scrapes would have definitely scratched acrylic watch glass, for instance.)Those same types of surfaces (metal shelves, metal zippers lining vest pockets) that could have scratched the glass but didn't, DID however put a light scratch on the edge of the watch case, near the face. The slightly beige/warm tint to the surface of the metal case, when scratched, shows itself as a more light, ever so slightly shiny or more silvery toned blemish. I will be watching this quality of my watch over time, to see how fast the surface blemishes or looks banged up. So far, you have to look really hard to notice the scratches in the case that I did put there. I only noticed them because I was paranoid about the repeated metal zipper catching and the sharp metal shelf glancing blows to the watch case, and examined the case where it chafed or got hit specifically FOR any scratches. In the description for this watch both here, on Timex.com, and elsewhere on the web where I looked I could not find what kind of battery type this watch used, so now that I have received mine and examined the case back, I will help you: It takes a CR2016 cell. [<-edited; I previously read the watch back incorrectly]I will update my review if there are any notable further developments. (Especially more about scratches in case, if that continues too easily or makes the watch start to actually look poor.)January 1, 2020 update:Timekeeping: After a number of weeks, I have noticed that this watch runs ever so slightly fast. It has probably gained about 15 seconds over internet time in...I think somewhere in the vicinity of about a month or two. (Personally I much prefer this over a piece that loses time.)No further scratches, but then, I've probably been a little bit more careful of making them, too.

Functional and stylish. Lots to like with minimal faults.

It's the perfect size. It's got a large easy to read dial, but isn't overly thick. It is light enough that I forget I'm wearing it, but has just enough heft to let you know that it is well constructed. Style wise, it sits at a perfect balance between sportiness and subtle sophistication. Its a true daily wear watch that looks at home with business attire or just jeans and a t-shirt.Functions are simple and straightforward. Buttons and crown feel sturdy. the hands align beautifully with the markings (a pet peeve for me: I've got more expensive watches that don't align so well). The long minute and chronograph second hands make it easier to read as well as the color highlights, without making the face appear overly busy.My concern that the silicone band would look or feel cheap was totally unfounded. It is super flexible and comfortable, though the material is thick enough to inspire confidence in it's durability. The color match with the face is great, and texture and design contribute to the unusual combination of rugged but upscale look and feelNits to pick: the finish on the brass case. the clasp has a nice organic pewter look, but the case looks more like a uniform powdercoat. It's not noticeable except upon close inspection, however, nor do the case and buckle look mismatched in any way. I haven't had it long enough to see if it will scratch or chip. The location of the clock second hand at 6 o'clock. The large second hand is the chronograph second hand. As with most second hands, the back of it projects a short way past the center spindle, so when the chrono is not in use, it covers the clock's regular second hand eye right at the 0/60 position. Since you can time with the chrono, this hardly matters when precision is needed, and if you want to set it, it is easy enough to just run the chrono for 15 seconds, set it with the clock's second hand at 0, and then clear the chrono. The indiglow light function is awesome and works far better than glowing hands and markers, or even a more traditional light type. You can't see the date in the dark, however. The date window is slightly recessed, and it appears as a little black square when indiglow is activated. So all in all, I'm super happy with the purchase, and the individual quirks are neglible. Well worth the price.

good every day watch

I've only had this watch for a couple of days and so far I'm very impressed with it. the only thing I do not like was that that timex does not make good manuals for their watches, generic 1 for all and my box did not even include a manual so I had to go to timex website for it. but once you figure it out its a good watch.

Lemon

The watch looked fine, but within a week it stopped keeping time. I replaced the battery but it still did not work. I bought a lemon unfortunately.
