Performs Perfectly!
Gown preservation boxes serve several purposes. They are space savers because you can store your gown under a bed, etc. They allow you to fold your gown as opposed to hang the gown. Long term hanging is stressful for the shape of the gown. Boxes prevent damaging light exposure. The acid free materials reduce yellowing from the storage environment. They do not prevent yellowing that occurs because of the gown manufacturers materials. Manufacturers often use glue or sequins that yellow over time. The boxes can be further sealed by taping every seam of both boxes with acid free packing tape to discourage bugs from getting to the gown. The best method of protecting the gown over time is to box the gown in an acid free preservation box such as this and then store it in a cedar chest or cedar closet. I am an industry professional and therefore am knowledgeable about this. When storing an item as important as a gown, research is recommended. It is also "not nice" to leave a bad review for a product that you simply don't understand the use of. This product works as described. In case you are wondering, I'm not affiliated with this company. I just have a soul and a sense of justice and hate to find negative reviews that have been written for stupid reasons, (see the other, 1 star review.) Have a nice day. :)

not insect proof
Be aware that the muslin bag that goes around the outside is not meant to prevent moths and beetles from eating the dress. My box came with a drawstring bag that could not be sealed tight enough to keep the moths out. When I complained this is the answer I got from kathy daniels foster stephens "The bag you received was never advertised as moth proof. Even though bugs are not attracted to cotton we would never advertise it as so as that would be impossible to predict. The Velcro bag (one in the video) actually allows much more opening and is actually much easier for bugs to get in than the drawstring as both sides of the flap are an entrance. These bags are to keep out dust and contaminants and nothing more. Cotton should deter them but that is not a guarantee." So now I am faced with having to enclose the box another way, I guess plastic to prevent my silk dress from being ruined. I guess if you have something other than silk this would be fine. I guess I assumed that a preservation kit would be insect proof. My bad for not investigating further.
