MicroBypass Parking Brake Switch Fully Automatic Video in Motion Interface for Pioneer AVH-4100NEX AVH-4200NEX

Rarely do I write reviews and sure as hell don’t go through the trouble of posting pics. First I have to say when they say microbypass it’s truly micro. It’s about the size of the old micro machines if any of you remember those. The directions were very straight forward and easy to understand. Black to ground, blue to remote, and green to green ( in my case though it was green to yellow with green stripe). I used this on a Alpine ine-w960 and it works flawlessly. When you connect the green to yellow with green stripe you DO NOT hook up the yellow with green stripe to the parking brake wire. Which saves a ton of hassle. My install was in a 2005 Lexus IS300. Perfect product works great. Don’t gamble with anything else that MAY not work for just a few dollars. There’s a reason why this product has so many great reviews.

I have the AVH-4200NEX and was unclear what one gains with this device versus simply grounding the green brake wire. Grounding the brake wire to a ground will get Android Auto working, but DVD playback still will not play video. With this device, you get DVD video playback.Installation is straight-forward. There are three wires - black goes to your headunit ground, blue goes to your head unit blue/white (remote power), and green goes to the head unit light green brake wire. Solder connections and heat shrink tubing for best results.Seems constructed well. I bought one by the same maker in 2015 for another vehicle with Pioneer AVH-4700 and it has not failed. Might be the same exact part.

Added a Pioneer head-unit to the wife's car and this allows us to access features that wouldn't be accessible without handbrake. Back in the day we would ground the brake wire to the head-unit and that would trick the pioneer unit into opening all the features pioneer figured that out. So next we would use the mute wire and move it to a different pin and ground that and it would put the unit in a working demo mode, pioneer closed that up. This bypass works by sending a ground signal to the e-brake wire moments after the head-unit starts so the radio thinks the e-brake was applied after the radio started. This bypass works perfect.

I initially bought this for the obvious up-side to the product being that it simulates applying the parking brake. I had initially considered returning it because simply putting the parking brake wire to ground (my parking brake had a faulty actuating sensor) did the trick. When loading DVDs it would ask you to apply/remove/apply the brake. Obviously i cant do that with the wire being attached to ground all the time. I could've put a switch and manually simulated it (cheaper alternative), but this item actually simulates (on/off/on) that at every boot up.Wiring was simple - ground, Remote, parking brake wire. done.

It does bypass the parking brake switch, but occasionally the video screen will flicker and reset as if the bypass is disconnecting. Not sure if the problem could be the way the bypass sends a signal to the stereo that is at a frequency too low to be interpreted as a good connection (some bypass switches describe that is how they work). When it is working correctly it performs as advertised. I'm using a Pioneer AVH-4400NEX.

The unit is very small and therefore easy to cram behind the head unit if you are installing a replacement stereo. I hooked mine up with a new head unit and backup camera and Bluetooth microphone and a steering wheel button wiring harness and in spite of all the connections going in at once the bypass worked like a champ. I can access all menus and view DVD playback and my backup camera while driving. This will be awesome when we are traveling and I need my wife to input new destinations or change settings or whatnot. I was skeptical of the performance considering I was putting in a newly released Pioneer AVH4400NEX but really wanted to have those menus and video while in motion and I am glad I did. I did leave off the GPS antenna and the Vehicle Speed Sensor because these are said to negate the bypass. The GPS on my phone works great without the antenna and VSS wire. I think they are desirable IF you add a GPS that works on the stereo itself (not by cell phone). I highly recommend this product. It works.

giving 4 stars from my end. My mate and I bought one each for AVH-4100NEX, his one worked perfectly, my one did not with same instructions. Left it at that, could be faulty at the time which is fine, i ended up stripping the cables in the end after all the cuts, I could have had a faulty product I wouldnt know as I've already thrown it into a fire. My friend's one however works as described.
