Then she gets to the heart of the matter: how meditation works, the common obstacles to meditation, types and elements of meditation, and a highly useful and interesting chapter on how to prepare for meditation.All that’s left is for the reader to make a commitment to try meditation and turn that into a daily habit.

Its a good read if your a beginner
Meditation is a general term that pertains to the different ways in which a person can achieve a tranquil state of being. It tells you which types of meditation in this book it give 8 different ways and it prepares you on how to do it. And if choose Candle Meditation it tells you which candle to use. which is a plus to me, this one will work for me in general. It also tells you how to practice it meditation every day. This book only gives you 62 pages of reading materiel. And the other 6 pages tells you about Mindfulness for beginners, The history and definition of Mindfulness. So I hope this helps you to buy or not to buy the book. The "Cons" of this book its short but sweet, it only gives you the basic info for meditation. This is why I only gave it 4 stars.

Super beginner's guide / intro!
Over the past year or so I have become more interested in learning about meditation overall, the benefits of regular practice and how it's done. This intrigued me after watching a 20/20 special report on Anchorman Dan Harris. He had experienced significant unhappiness and struggles, but overcame same by launching into finding some real help. Ultimately, his life saver was meditation, and he wrote a book about it [also on Amazon]. I have not read his book yet, but I indeed will. Prior to doing so, I wanted to first learn more about the basics of meditation on how to do it,so I could actually begin- and hopefully have a better understanding and appreciation for what Dan relays on his personal story.SO- I sincerely highly recommend this book for beginners. It was insightful and explains the basics for a foundation to build upon. I now know the basic elements and will be beginning a new journey. Even cooler, I shared all this with my lovely and supportive wife, and she too is "on board"- and asked me to teach and share with her the books I read so she can do same. We will then share our forthcoming new experiences together...that is simply awesome and I look very forward to it. Go ahead and buy the book already (i used the Kindle version and read it this Sun eve no prob w the Kindle for Android app), all good for getting toes wet in all that meditation will bring for positive change!!

I gathered all useful information out of this book in about 5 minutes. It is an incredibly short book for the price. The font size and margins remind me of my college days when professors would give required essay length in number of pages instead of word count. While there was a small amount of interesting information, I will certainly be looking for some more in depth books.

This is an educational read that I would read again.
The Free Smoothie report was awesome. Especially for a free give-away. As for the rest of the book, it was well written and very well organized. The topic is becoming more and more popular, and I have read several books on meditation looking for that little hint that will help me break through my own stress levels. This book was an interesting read because it dealt with a lot of information. The author covers the gamut, informing the reader about the history and benefits of meditation, how it works, how to prepare to do it and how to practice in order to be good at it. The author also covers the obstacles that readers will encounter on their path and gives ideas as to how to deal with those obstacles.There is a strong focus on trying to live in the moment, appreciate and notice your surroundings, and be aware of your own stress causing events. This is an educational read that I would read again.

A concise, well written introduction to the benefits, purpose, and tecniques of meditation
This is a short read, and if you're interested in exploring what meditation has to offer you, this is a good place to start. The author provides a quick grounding in the history and the many benefits, and quickly moves on to the various types of meditation practice. There are many tips provided on how to give yourself a good chance of success in building a longlasting and beneficial habit. It's pretty basic information, but that is the intent. I wouldn't recommend it for readers who have studied the subject before (beginners is in the title after all), but it is a good introduction.

Meditation made accessible and easy!
A really helpful, and easy to read book on meditation. I wanted to understand more about how meditation works, and to learn how you I could do it in a way that would work for me. This was the perfect book for me to buy as an introduction to meditation. It isn't very long, which was perfect for me. If you're looking for a great, informative and helpful introduction to meditation, then this is the book for you too! The book gives great background and context on meditation, which helped me understand it more, and then goes into benefits before giving a clear description of how you can put it into practice yourself.
