I needed a way to protect some touch-ups I did to a set of chrome rims from my F-150. Unfortunately, Ford decided that chrome PVD was a good idea for a rim coating. After a few years, the edges started to flake very badly, which is common for the model of rim I had. To hide the damage as best I could, and to prevent further flaking, I decided to use a set of chrome pens and cover the touch-ups with this clear coat. This worked great if I was careful. The clearcoat almost immediately re-activates the chrome paint I'm covering, so if I put too much of this on at once, it would mix with the chrome and run everywhere. Just a light brush done 3 times over about 30-45 minutes prevented that from happening. Once this stuff was dry, it looked really good and protected the chrome touch-up underneath. I tried three or four different clearcoat products and this worked the best.

Does what I want it to do!

Paint-Scratch clear-coat does go on easy and does dry fast. I recommend this for repair of scratches and small damaged areas to auto clear coat finishes. After drying, this product responded well to wet sanding with 800 & 1500 grit paper as well as polishing using a chemical cutting agent. Unfortunately this product was not compatible with Genuine Honda touch up paint which softens and flows when attempting to apply the clear coat over touched up areas even when the touch up paint has been allowed to dry for up to five days. As Honda touch up paint dispensers look very similar to (and possibly supplied by) Duplicolor, I suspect these may be incompatible as well. The Paint-Scratch clear coat did not soften the vehicle OEM paint, therefore I attribute incompatibility problems to the Genuine Honda touch up paint product.

I have two tiny little scratches on my clear on a dark vehicle. I always want to keep my baby perfect so I got this to fix them. First of all because the bottle and the brush stem is so tall it collects product and starts dripping down fast. So I made tears on my car (got them wiped quick). Secondly the product is thick and doesn't stay flat, ir's exactly the consistency of old nail polish, thick, and leaves an extruded mess even when applied with the utmost care. Repair is highly visible. Maybe good for a banged up car to avoid rust but if you're a perfectionist just say no.

Good clear coat that does not need buffed.

Didn't provide a very smooth thick shiny glossy feel and look. Seemed like just a coating over your car paint. Was very watery compared to a bottle bought from other car paint companies online.
