Fishpond Headgate Tippet Holder

Works great, no problems so far. Fits RIO Tippets just fine and has a little rubber washer to prevent your tippets from spinning loosely.

Easy to load with all commercial leader spools and great ergonomics for attachment and use Fish Pond always manages to deliver quality for the dollar.

Tippet holder looks great works great! Liking this a lot more than my older post holder type.

Very handy tippet holder that attaches to a slingbag or to waders. I usually carry 5-6 spools of tippet when fishing. This holder allows me to keep the tippet out of my pack and easily accessible. It comes with a plastic clip that appears to be sturdy. However, I suspect it may be the weak-link in the design. That said, if you leave it attached to a pack the clip should not be stressed too much. Alternatively, one could use a zip tie in its place to secure to a pack. Pricey--as are most Fishpond products--but high quality (assuming the clip stands up to use). In sum, a high quality tippet holder that, if a few dollars cheaper, would unquestionably be a 5-Star product.

I previously had just a roll of tippet spools that were "clipped" using the built in hubs. Problem is that when I had to buy a spool that was not the same brand that did not work as hubs were not compatible. Then I used my handy handyman skills and built a tippet spool holder using some shock cord and some home made plastic washers. That worked fine but there was no way to attach it to my vest. So I decided to put down the bucks and buy the FishPond Headgate. Boy is this thing nice. It is shiny, very well built (like all FishPond products), you can adjust it to keep spools nice and tight together even when you have different brands of tippet and you can clip it easily on and off your vest. Best thing that I like is the built in cutter - when I am using this on my drift boat I don't need to use my nippers or my teeth (which makes my dentist very happy). Yeah, it seems like a lot of money but this is the best tippet holder I have found. I am really happy I bought this and I am sure you will be too.

I liked the size (3-4 reels of tippet) and ease of accessibility to my tippet while in the middle of the stream! The only downside, although very minor, was the plastic hook used to hang on my waders. No issues yet, but could break over time.

Such a great organizer for tippet! Bought to attach to my fly pack and it has been super nice to have them all on a spool to grab from rather than in pockets or digging around for them. Does it's job well and feels like it will hold up for a long time.
