Not a bad man-bag
There are times that I have extra stuff: Kindle, camera, notebook, phone, keys, that I want to carry, but it is not really enough for a bookbag. On the other hand, I really don't want to be carrying what could in any world conceivably, possibly be a purse. This works great. It is clearly not a purse, it has a fair amount of room, and is well made. The price, of course, is also great. It could use a wider, better strap and the "ears" that are supposed to go under the main flap don't always fold down automatically. The ad said "many compartments," which I really didn't want, so that works out: It has a main compartment divided into 2 parts, a front pocket (still under the flap) that is the right size for a wallet, with a couple of pockets for something the size of a pen knife and slots for some pencils. It is a lot less complex than some I have seen.Things are also easier to find than in a black backpack--everything seems to be black these days. The material is heavy and seems well sewn, so it should last for a long time.

This bag is amazing! the pictures are deceptive
This bag is amazing! the pictures are deceptive. it has two interior pockets separated by a dividing cloth. inside that it is quite roomy. the picture appears to be a shallow one and a deep one. in actuality it is two deep ones and theres enough room in each for about 2 rows of three paperbacks,in each pocket easily. I use it for carrying my crafts and it has enough room for a spool of paracord, 6 paracord books, a medium sized textbook on hand stitching, some rags to practice hand stitching, a small round plastic loom, a skien of yarn, and miscellaneous sewing equipment. it has a small exterior pocket between the flap and the outside of the work bag which holds a box cutter, a bic ligther, a crochet hook, and some small items. filled completely, it stretches beyond its stated dimensions by quite a bit. as someone earlier stated, the straps are both positioned on the back of the bag, so it does not lay flat if just strung along one shoulder. however if it is put across the body (messenger bag carry) it lies flat against the hip. the material is just ordinary canvas, and is not waterproofed, nor does it offer much protection against rain. but for the money, these are minor issues. all in all this is a fantastic bag!

Bag O' Art
I bought this bag with the intent to use it to carry all of my art supplies (sketchbooks, a magazine or two, colored pencils, markers, pencils, whatever else I may need). So far, it's worked out well for me. I'm not a huge fan of the stiff backboard in it, because it falls over all the time, but I went into the purchase knowing that. It holds all my stuff pretty easily, and I haven't had a problem with it at all. I like the divider in the middle of the pack, and the front pocket is perfect for throwing my ipod in and going. I've drawn all over the outside of the bag, because it's a good surface, and, hey, I'm an art student. It's pretty heavy duty, and I can kind of beat on it, and it hasn't shown any signs of tearing or anything. A good buy for the price, you won't be disappointed.

To Honor, Re-Purpose
I have been making my own satchels. I found a Patricia Nash detachable leather purse strap (a vintage floral). I decided to look for a simple canvas bag. I love the old army/navy look (simple but sturdy). The size of this map case is perfect. I am not so sure about the board insert, but no worries, I can take it out and sew it back up if it turns out cumbersome. I added my strap and a cameo. Just the type of thing a girl might have done in the 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's with her father or brother's satchels brought home after their tour of duty. Re-purpose to use. Yeah, I'm 56 by the way, and love my jeans, boots, plaids, and our Military. THANK YOU for all you do, and the LOOK TOO!!

Excellent bag, wrong color
I ordered the sage bag but got the olive drab. I almost returned it but I had been debating between these two colors as it was and was too excited to have it. I was really worried this bag would be too small but it isn't. It's just the right size. If you are thinking of buying it, I would say go for it because it holds just what you need. Not recommended for laptops but will be great for notebooks, outings, etc. The material is very sturdy. It has a hard back to hold its shape better. From what I've read this can be easily removed but I find I really like it myself. If I had received the color I ordered, I'd have given this five stars. (And the packaging slip had the color I ordered checked).

I love this style bag
I love this style bag! I'm a Tom boy and hate carrying super girly purses.. But this is very functional and durable. I've had one before and it finally wore out after about 8 years.. It has large compartments to carry my pencils and sketch book. With enough room to sneek drinks into the theatre ;) Also it's durable enough to throw over my shoulder for hiking. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because the material seems to have gotten thinner since last time..

Great, great bag
This bag is THE S***. And by that I mean it is awesome. I carry it with me everywhere (gift my Fiancee got for me) and carry all my essentials in it. It also has pen/pencil holders in the front, though they are a tight fit until you put some stuff in them. Unfortunately (we got this bag may 29th for my bday) the strap around the metal part holding the strap on broke, so I just tied it around it and it works like new. I'll have to get it resewn at a cleaners but it still works friggin' GREAT. A very good buy. 5 stars because the durability of the bag is awesome. Also you should probably get the hard backboard out of the bag also, I did and it's much more comfortable.

Lasted over two years with daily use
I bought this in 2016, and after daily use the fiberboard back is still in one piece and only the canvas at the top two corners of the board frayed. Not bad for any bag, let alone one continually dragged around. Big enough to carry a SMALL sketch pad, art supplies, journal, wallet, phone, keys, hand lotion, chapstick, tissues, and more. I'm buying another one and my teen has already tried to claim my old one!
