UDO Brings down the Steelhammer
I ordered Steelhammer through Amazon.com and got it within a few days. I always know that a cd from UDO is going to be great and this is no exception. Steelhammer leads off the song list and is a hard driving song. A Cry of a Nation follows and keeps the driving force moving forward. One thing that you start to notice is that the guitar work is a bit crisper and the pace has picked up. This doesn't at all mean that the guitarists are better then those who just left, it's just different. Metal Machine is the 3rd song and sounds a bit Rev-Raptorish. I like it! Of course I always favor the marching, stun guitar type work and this is certainly all of that and more. There's the standard Accept/Udo chorus that sounds oh so German! UDO's voice is in fine form, at least for someone who sounds like that swallowed jet fuel. Basta Ya is the next metal tune and UDO sings in spanish. It's a really fast, galloping song. You will enjoy it, but it does throw you off a bit because of the spanish. Heavy Rain is up next and the piano fueled song is something UDO should have left in the recording studio. The song is short and seems to only be a laugher. Devil's Bite follows and starts off with a European sounding keyboard then shifts to heavy guitars, which at times merge with the keyboards to give a much different UDO sound. Kind of that lost, hallow feeling you get from some of those European Heavy Metal bands. Death Ride drops the keyboards and starts with quick, choppy guitars. It definitely sounds like UDO is playing with another band, until a few familiar vocal patterns erupt from the diminutive little German that will bring you back to his past successes. King of Men looked like a cool song when I noticed the title and UDO delivers the goods on this one as well. Quick and crawling guitar chops leads up to UDO's quick, growling, chainsaw vocals that prove he's still got it. I must have left this song on repeat for at least an hour! Timekeeper seemed a title that might be thoughtful and tame. Wrong! All hail those familiar Accept/UDO crunching axes! More of the old school chorus work back on this song as well. When I listen to this, I want to learn how to play guitar like that and only like that. Most UDO songs have some solos and this one does as well and veers off into an unfamiliar territory that is still very good. Never Cross My Way is one of those tunes which is just average. Take My Medicine then cracks the whip and makes you stand up and salute. Heavy Metal shredding at its best. I left this on repeat for 2 hours!!!!!!!Freaking great. There's no band full of 20 year olds who can come up with anything better than this. Man, if this was 1980, UDO would be headlining with Iron Maiden and the Scorpions in support. Stay True is the next metal assault on your ears and it's solid as a rock. It may have you pounding the table. When Loves Become a Lie is slow and ballad like but it's not wussyfied! Still, strong vocals and guitars. Book of Faith starts off like some weird song out of a Tarentino movie. It starts to pick up tempo and UDO changes up his vocal work a bit. Really strong song and you will like it. So there you have it. UDO is not back, because he never left. UDO isn't better, because he's always been great. Now, if he would only tour the entire U.S. everything would be right with the world again. Long Live Heavy Metal, Long Live UDO!!!!!!!!!!!

UDO's best album since leaving Accept!
I should state first that I am a huge Accept Fan, with and without UDO. Also, I have purchased every UDO album since he left the band. Most of his solo work is good, but not great, as a whole. Some really terrific songs, and then a few duds on nearly every album. Steelhammer is a return to simple, hard songs. I'm not sure if that was due to the departure of his long-time guitarists, or maybe they left because he wanted to change things. Either way, this album is really good. UDO sounds better, more of an edge, and the guitars sound much clearer and less "synthy" if that's a word. As for the person who wrote about too much keyboards on this record, I really only recall a couple of songs where it was a prevalent sound. I'm sure most people that enjoy Accept, and UDO, will know what his sound is like. This is an improvement on an already good sound. Great stuff.

... an epic album that consists of some of the best work U
This is an epic album that consists of some of the best work U.D.O has ever released. My personal favorites are "Metal Machine", "Timekeeper", "When Love Becomes and Lie" and "Book of Faith", though the entire album is solid and has become a go-to listen in my collection.I am VERY disappointed, however, in the fact that two songs, "King of Mean" and "Never Cross My Way" were not included in the Amazon digital download. I bought the album before realizing this, and cannot find the MP3s of these to songs without having to buy the CD and burn them. Amazon needs to fix this and send everyone who bought this album those 2 tunes.

best U.D.O. album ever
Udo may have released many albums in his solo career, but this one, Steelhammer, is the best so far. there are no real fillers on this album. every song makes you want to hear the next. and finally no more fake drums, guitar amp modelers, 3,472 voice choir drowning out Udo in the choruses, whimpy half-time break downs that kill the song, boring guitar solo's.... no more of the -tor era!!! U.D.O. is back in a big way. the songs are aggressive. the drums drive the music right through your brain and never let up. the guitar solo's are creative, memorable, and awesome to listen to. Udo's voice is at the top of his game. everything is great. BUY THE ALBUM!!!

just like a fine wine udo gets better with age!!
i was a little concerned about purchasing this cd due to the fact i knew that the band had lost two of their key members...well worry no more udo is back and better than ever-great vocals, monster guitar riffs, heavy bass and drums-this cd is awesome-buy this cd and show your support for mr.udo and his bandmates, the guy is a legend and without his influence we wouldn't have a lot of the metal bands that are out there today-i hope udo has no plans of retiring anytime soon because from the sound of this cd he is only getting started"ALL HAIL UDO!!!"

U.D.O. delivers in 2013!
U.D.O. returns to top form on his latest release, Steelhammer. It's an excellent CD in the classic Germanic/Accept metal style, featuring memorable songs with strong riffs and musicianship. The band recently underwent a major overhaul, but Fitty (bass) and Udo did a fine job with the songwriting and production, and new guitarist Andrey Smirnov turned in a solid performance. Thoroughly enjoyable, and it's great that Udo's latest effort is able to stand up against the two exceptional Accept reunion CDs. Highly recommended - Steelhammer is a potential "top 10" candidate for 2013.

U.D.O.
Cd acquistato il 29 maggio, ricevuto il 5 giugno. Confezione integra, pellicola protettiva.
