Exactly as described
If only I knew this was an option a while back. Easy to use and works great.

Fine for low power battery charging, not so good for changing out the battery.
I bought this to use as a power cable to keep the settings in my car's computer when changing the car battery and using an external power source. I could not get it to pass any voltage to the car unless a battery is installed and hooked up in the car. Based on this I feel it will not be your best choice to keep the settings in your car's computer or radio settings while changing the cars battery. A call to Battery Tender's customer service said it was not designed for that purpose. If you are buying this to charge your cars battery from the OBDII connector at a rate of under 3 amps it should work just fine.

Love using it
Running this on my Rivian R1T and it solves my vampire drain. Using a 2amp noco charger.

Good, not great
Good, but could be better. The wire size is way too big (10 gauge) for a auto circuit that has a 10 amp fuse (large wire not flexible). It also doesn't need a fuse inline. Just adds bulk, tangle issue and adds price. The first two solar charger builds I used a generic OBD II plug. Pin 16 is batt + and pin 4 is ground -. Lookup OBD-II pinout.Generally, Battery Tender products are very high quality, but expensive.

Just plug it in and it works.
I had a 5W solar charger with the "cigarette lighter" connection. But, those ports only work when the ignition is engaged in my car. Bought this so I could use it when the vehicle is completely turned off and locked. Plugged it in to the OBD-II port, pointed the panel to some sunlight, and it was charging. Very simple. And, it works with my other (larger) panels, as well.

Great solution. Should be included with the device
Battery Tender should include this with the maintainer. Beats handling the clamps in the hood or trunk. Works great with a 2007 Honda pilot. The cable is thin enough that doesn’t damage the door seal.

Must have device for mounting your solar panel inside your car
This is perfect for attaching a solar panel placed on your dashboard when parked any length of time outdoors but not run, such as airport parking lots. Make sure to check the polarity of the solar panel with the unit's pigtail before attaching to your OBD connection under your dashboard.
