DK Workbooks: Geography, First Grade: Learn and Explore

For 1st grade geography, I was very happy with the overall book. It really helped my son grasp basic map skills, locating places on maps, and understanding how to draw and use maps for navigation. We did add to some of the study pages but using books related to state/province and country studies. We also used google and YouTube to further explore animals and locations talked about on certain pages (like finding names of deserts and looking up photos or videos of those places). It is very short. We completed the book in less than 3 months and are moving on to study of each of the United States.

It's a perfect addition for our homeschool curriculum. It's easy but challenging to keep her interested.

This is a great work book, though I think it's just a tad too easy. Lol. Our son loves it though and he doesn't complain when he has to do his schoolwork. Loves Geography

We use this workbook as a supplement to other social studies units in our homeschool. I like this workbook because the pictures are nice and big and clear, not confusing to my first grader. She may have one or two questions, or we go over the assignment before she starts, but content is easy to grasp and she is able to complete the assignments on her own for the most part once the goal is explained. She loves that it comes with gold stars, of course.

Great easy skills to learn great for homeschooling

I ordered this for my going in to first grade son to work on throughout the summer. As a Harvard-educated educator, I am committed to ensuring my children stay up academically over the summer and have a chance to work on learning material that isn't covered as thoroughly within the public school system. DK workbook and products in general more often than not impress me with their content and attention to detail. My son and I enjoyed this and found it educational but not tedious. The content is easily mastered and not overwhelming in presentation.

Book it self has great material in it, however, all the pages are printed on both sides making it impossible to use the entire book. You have to choose which side you want to use. I paid $11 for the book and for that I didn't think I still had to make copies of pages myself. I'm using it as an added class for us since we are currently doing distance education and only have ela, math, PE and art.

Concept are very well explained.
