The Most Powerful Inquiry Book We've Read!!!
We absolutely LOVE Dive into Inquiry!! We purchased a team set and used the author's bookclub prompts for our collaborative inquiry (find these on Trevor's website). These provided an awesome framework for our reading and adopting of inquiry into our school. Some highlights for us were Trevor's use of examples from his classroom. As a full-time practicing teacher we felt ensured that what we were reading held strength and was not just applicable but achievable. There is an element of theory to the work but what really makes the resource stand out is his touching narrative combined with his practical examples and powerful structures. Although middle and high school focused we see many connections to the elementary classroom throughout the book from his scaffolded approach, to his use of particular structures to support success, to philosophy on personalized learning. His graphics are great (and also free on his website) so be sure to check them out and use them with your students. We've read a bunch of inquiry resources and although they all were helpful Dive into Inquiry stood out to us as the most powerful and change provoking of all. Definitely worthy of our investment of time and money and highly recommended as a team read.

@trev_mackenzie has an excellent book in “Dive Into Inquiry”
@trev_mackenzie has an excellent book in “Dive Into Inquiry”. If you or your school are trying to change the way teachers teach as well as find a better way to motivate students and keep them engaged, this is the book for you. In “Dive Into Inquiry”, MacKenzie shows you how Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) brings a personalized and real-life focus into the classroom. He walks you through transitioning from the traditional classroom to one in which students have ownership and see the real-life application of what they are learning. MacKenzie explains the 4 types of inquiry to gradually release responsibility from the teacher to the students as well as sharing 4 pillars that will help to get students started. Finally, he shows you specific examples of students who have gone through the process of IBL. The examples are heartwarming, amazing, and I imagine what anyone in the field of education hopes for their students. Transform your classroom and your learners and pick up this book!

Dive Into Inquiry is a fabulous book written by Trevor Mackenzie. Although it was written with a secondary classroom as the focus, I was still able to apply his advice, understanding and strategies about an inquiry approach to learning in a primary setting. A well written book that will leave you inspired to foster the passions and curiosities of the learners in your classroom.

Inquiry
I would love to do inquiry based learning, but I struggle with how to do so in my English classroom. He gives an awesome plan and ideas for how to implement this.

Trevor's book is a great way to start making small changes in your classroom ...
Want to learn the why's and how's of Inquiry Learning? Trevor's book is a great way to start making small changes in your classroom that have huge payoff in student engagement and learning. He takes you through the process step by step and gives all kinds of great examples and resources to use while you are doing it. It applies to any grade level and across all curriculum - in fact it works even better if you use a cross curricular approach. It's not a tough read or a long read. He tells you what you need to know and does it in an enjoyable style to read. I love the graphics by Sylvia Duckworth too. I've been using what I've read in my classroom all year and it has really been making a positive difference.

Essential tool for Inquiry classroom
Trevor has written an excellent and practical manual that avoids the pitfall of many educational and professional development resources - Too much theory, not enough practice, and way, way too much jargon. This book is smoothly and written in a casual, accessible manner that leads interested teachers through a personal, step by step "what it looks like in the classroom" style guide for inquiry learning with stories, examples, and anecdotes. Theres plenty of little tidbits you can only get from someone whose rolled these ideas out in the trenches, and lots of links to resources on his blog. Should be required reading for teachers looking to try this approach in their classroom. Also, teachers are busy. This book is a quick, breezy read and gets right to the point. Excellent work.

Highly recommended for teachers interested in Inquiry Learning.
This book is a good starting point for any educator planning to use inquiry learning in their classroom. The author presents excellent examples that show the power of inquiry as a way to motivate and engage students, and includes clearly defined steps as to how to get started. Using a four stage scaffolding approach, the book shows teachers how they can introduce students to inquiry learning in a way that builds students' confidence and skills to the point where they are able to engage in self directed Free Inquiry. This book shows how classroom teachers of all grade levels can engage students in the important skills of asking good questions, conducting research, analyzing and organizing findings, and presenting their findings to a wider audience. "Dive Into Inquiry" is a clear and easy to read "road map" for moving one's classroom away from teaching and learning that is rote, irrelevant, and not connected to students' interests, and in its place, creating a learning environment that is personalized, engaging, relevant, and full of exploration and learning. Highly recommended!

I'm so thankful for this book!
I am so glad that I decided to order Dive Into Inquiry! I was curious about the book after noticing a graphic while browsing through Twitter; the ideas found in the "Types of Student Inquiry" image related to the work I wanted to do in my classroom so I knew I wanted to learn more. Dive Into Inquiry has now become one of my most-loved resources for two reasons: 1) It is based on solid research (see the work of Wiggins and McTighe), and 2) The inquiry process has been scaffolded for educators/readers, which helped me approach student-centred learning in a step-by-step approach while relying on a strong framework that would support my work (and that of my students) as we began a new learning journey together. Kudos to Trevor Mackenzie!!
