This is a very high quality hacksaw. I finally got fed up with the el cheapos sold and wally world and elsewhere and decided to see if Starrett quality was still high. It is a very solid built and heavy saw. I was disappointed to see it was made in China. But what isn't these days?

This is a great hacksaw... balanced, very well thought out: the blade is nearly impossible to bend in the frame. Starrett Blades are also some of the best available.

Great hacksaw with a nice rigid frame and a crank mechanism which makes it very easy to adjust the tension on the blade.

edit: I bought a second one for work a few weeks ago and it already broke. The blade tension arms are made of cheap pourous pot metal. Couldn't even weld the part back together. It just disintegrated when I hit it with a tig welder. I for one am never buying another starret hacksaw, really a big shame too. The first one I received had a damaged screw and this one was made with highly inferior materials. So far ok, didnt come with the blue stripe blade that was on it in the picture and i think it was advertised as being included, but big deal. The screw for the tensioner is a little chewed up, but im ok with that too, it doesnt seems to effect the tensioner or the function of the saw in any way, does as promised and with starret safty flex blades gets them so tight you can make them ring with a flick of your finger. I have only had it for a couple of hours and cut some tool steel stock and a few peices of aluminum round stock with it and am happy to say this is the best hacksaw i currently ofn, blades under this kind of tension are far less likely to bend and warp, abd they cut straight and true with little binding when held this tight. Im happy with it, still kinda wish i got the blade though, a little dissapointed that its manufactured over seas, but big woop, what isnt these days

You get what you pay for. This is the best I have ever owned. Comfortable and easy to use. Blade changes are a snap.

This is one of my favorite tools in my toolbox. I am a commercial electrician and I use this almost every day. I love how you only have to tighten it with six turns. Makes the job of changing blades a lot faster for plastic, wood, or metals.The color is perfect as it helps to stand out from all my other tools and materials and is easily found when I lay it down on the job site. It has great balance and a great grip. I recommend this to ANYONE looking for a new handsaw.

I ordered this saw thinking it is made in the USA. I should have researched more. It is made in China. For $23 I could have bought a similar saw locally. I undid the tightening adjuster all the way (accidentally) and noticed metal shavings inside. An indication to me of inferior metal. I would have returned it but it would have costs me $6. Sad that it is so difficult to find tools made in the USA.

Good, solid, not as fast to change blades as the previous model but still the sturdiest on I can find. Very heavy tho.
