Best bang for your buck! A BaByliss believer.
I have had a BaByliss Pro for the last 4 or 4.5 years, but the little red light on the side started to flicker, so I figured it would be better to preemptively order another one in case it went out. )Long story short the old one still works, but I just use it as my travel straightener now lol.) I've owned 2 of these exact straighteners for a combined 10 years and I absolutely love them. This third one was no different.I've had it now for about a month to make sure it wasn't going to be dud. Even though my older one still works, I'm so glad I updated my straightener. The plates are so much more smooth and grab split ends less, and it does heat up a tad faster. I find after just a minute or so of sitting I can start to fix my hair. I have extremely thick hair, but it is naturally pretty straight. It takes me about 5 minutes or so fully straighten my hair using a 375 or 400 setting. I love the swivel for the cord. It makes it super easy to never get tangled up. This is just my preference, but I also prefer having the 1.5 inch plate. I think it truly speeds up the process and my hair wouldn't ever hold a curl anyways ;)

Long, thick hair no match for this dream product!
I purchased this flat iron because my last one conked out on me after about seven years. I was hesitant on changing brands due to so many on the market today being duds. I have extremely thick, long, wavy hair and need something that would do the job quickly and efficiently. (My dead flat iron would straighten my hair in about 45-50 minutes.) My sister, a hairdresser, recommended this flat iron to me as one that was "pretty decent" and fairly priced. She recommended I get the 1.5" size, which seems to be optimal for handling, so I did.First off, shipping was FAST, so this vendor receives tons of brownie points for that. The flat iron itself is a dream. It heats up quickly and stays piping hot for the duration. Small portions of my hair were still a tinge wet when I was straightening it, but it didn't seem to be an issue with this iron. In fact, this iron straightened out my mane in record time. Forty minutes! Suffice to say, I'm thrilled with this product and highly recommend anyone with long, thick tresses to do yourself a favor and get the BaByliss Pro. You won't be disappointed.

Love it!!
I am impressed with this iron! I've used Chi irons for many years now, and still feel they are good products. However, there are several features of this iron that I like much better. First, I do not use my straightener to curl my hair. I use curlers or a curling iron....therefore, I REALLY LIKE the wider iron!! It takes much less time to straighten my hair. (My 13 year old niece does NOT like this feature because she can't curl her hair as tight....and she "doesn't know how" to use a curling iron or hot rollers.)2. It has a dial to adjust the heat....and it gets VERY HOT; whereas a Chi iron is just on or off, and doesn't seem to get as hot as this iron does.3. It doesn't snag my hair. It has been my experience that I had to Smooth some rough edges on a couple Chi irons. Otherwise, it would snag and pull my hair. This iron worked smoothly right out of the box.

Great before it broke
Nice straightener! It works really well just like the CHI I used to own. It heats up really quick and does the job well. The only problem I have with it is the on/off button and heat adjustment knob looks cheaply made. It's more of an appearance thing, my CHI looked top to bottom like a product made with great material. This one just appears to have more of a cheap plastic look to it, but just the button/knob part, the rest of it looks really good. I guess I was just surprised, but for the price it does just as good as those expensive CHI straighteners. If I had been able to afford a more expensive straightener by Babyliss I would hope the buttons don't look like cheap plastic. Otherwise, 5 stars still because it works great! Babyliss makes awesome straighteners, even the cheaper ones such as this one works nicely.UPDATE***Just a couple days after writing this review my straightener stopped working. I have only had this straightener for 24 days before it broke. I didn't drop it or expose it to water, suddenly one morning it just didn't heat up. It turns on, but the plates don't get even remotely warm. It showed no signs of failure prior, in fact I used it the day before and it was great. I just wish it would not have broken, and it still deserves 4 stars because it worked well when it was working. I noticed there was something inside the straightener that seemed loose, when I shook it a bit it sounded like a piece of plastic had broken off or something inside. Maybe something did fall apart inside and that's why it broke, I feel this straightener could have been made with better material. As I mentioned previously, the buttons and knob had a cheap plastic look to it, I was going to get an exchange but turns out fulfillment by Amazon is refund only. So I suppose I'm taking my refund and spending it on another straightener instead. I'm just paranoid even though I feel I just got a defective one.

Awesome straightener!
I am so happy with this purchase. My DH (Diana the Hunter) straightener that I got from my hair salon (and that sells for over $100) recently broke and I needed a new one. I have thick wavy hair and usually wear it wavy, but like to straighten it every once in a while for a change. I bought a Chi Air that I hated. It caught my hair and didn't run smoothly from root to end. I had to go so slowly, I felt like I really was frying it. I returned it and researched the Babyliss Pro.This iron for less than half the cost is a far better one than the Chi. I got the 1 1/2 inch because of my long thick hair and I have straight locks in 20 minutes or less. It used to take 30-40 minutes with my 1 in iron. I rarely even turn the heat past 350. My hair stays straight until I'm ready to wash it. It doesn't frizz up at all - even in this Louisiana humidity!! Would definitely recommend!
