Scholastic Reader Pre-Level 1: Gus Gets Scared

Grandson loves the book.

Love Gus gets scared. I bought this for my 5 year old son, and he only had minor trouble with some of the words. It was supposed to challenge him a little and it did. I would recommend buying an entire book series. Or a book set. But just one book isn't going to cut it. Kids are too smart, and they memorize it before you can blink. I'm going to get a series of books.

Not easy to find books with the name Gus on them, so these were perfect for our grandson. cute read and adorable! we really enjoy the leveled readers...a short read for parents when bedtime has been dragging out way to long, and then they make a great reader when the children are learning to read for themselves!

My son got a good kick out of the story. It's simple enough that, as a five year old, he can read it himself without getting to frustrated and needing help.

My 20 month old son loved it! Cute book,the son wants to sleep outside, but then wants his dad to join him..ends up his dads the only one that sleeps outside all night.

Simple story that is identifiable for youngsters who have wanted to "camp out" in the back yard. Nice to see a rhino for a character in a story! Enjoyed the artwork.

This book is very well made and is my 5 year old daughter's favorite. She thinks it's funny how the boy leaves his dad in the tent alone and he wakes up looking around for him. Good Book!

Great first reader. My daughter will be 4 years in 6 weeks. She can read over half of this book. Easiest book I have found. I makes her feel proud and confident.

Not much to this story. But its great for a quick read with your toddler or for a child just learning to read.
