Sony model 802 ubp m2 4k Bluray player.fgnj may 2025.
Received my Sony 4k Bluray player model 802 ubp m2 player from Amazon today.works great so far.i do have another Sony 4k Bluray player model 802 ubp m2 as well because I have a big movie collection of over 400 movies.tryed out in 4k an Bluray with my new 4k Bluray player model 802 ubp m2.i had to replace my Sony model 700 4k Bluray player because after a year an a half having it started to freeze my movies for a short while because I clean my video head on my players with a cleaning disk once a month to keep dirt off the video head on my players.so if you ever decide to get a Sony 4k Bluray player don't buy a Sony model 700 Bluray 4k player because they start to give you problems after a year an a half use .I recommend to buy Sony model 802 ubp m2 4k Bluray player or a brand that's better model to use with your movie collection.i have 4k, Bluray an DVD's to watch now.happy with my new 4k Bluray player from Sony.

It just works.
I stopped the smart function and wireless connectivity on our Samsung 82," now all of that goes through the Sony BR Player. Good clear picture, and easy BR/DVD playback.

Still best 4k player out there, if sometimes faulty
I am on my 5th unit since 2019. I did get two originally because one is for a TV room, one for a projector theater. When it works, it is great, but it is hit or miss. One player worked fine since 2019. Another stopped recognizing any disc after 2 years. I bought a replacement drive for $60 and that fixed it...for a bit. Another unit would sporadically freeze on 4k discs. My recent one, which I am replacing after a week of testing, would do micro-skipping on random discs. I am watching a movie and suddenly it looks like a frame skips, then it would be fine for 30 minutes, then do it again. Some discs play fine all the way through, some have this issue. Nothing major, but enough to make me think this is faulty and could eventually get worse so I am replacing it.So, why do I stick with this player? Because, sadly, it is the best out there. Even the tech I bought the replacement drive from told me these are still the best units on the market! I say "sadly" because I am Gen Xer old enough to have lived in a time when electronics actually lasted for a while, but now that is no longer the case. Heck, I still have a Super 8 Projector from 1980 that WORKS! These days, one almost expects issues with just about anything, and we have to grapple with the player that has the least problems. So, this one is it.The player itself is very easy to set up, works well, and the video and audio are excellent. Some have complained about streaming but, really, do people still use a BD player for streaming? I have not used a BD player for streaming in years. I use Amazon Firesticks. So, as far as streaming I cannot tell you how well it does. I like that the player does not have a host of lights in the front. I use one of the players in a dark projector movie theater and want the least amount of visual noise upfront. I like the USB port in front as well. The unit is solid and quiet. The unit does not overheat. Even after playing a 3 hour movie, the disc come out cool to the touch.I was happy that this last purchase came from Crutchfield, as I totally trust them as a seller, but on Amazon it is hit or miss who you'll get, depending on availability. Replacing this player with them was very easy. However, hopefully you will not encounter any issues and enjoy your player for a few years. It is really a great player!

A Solid Piece Of Hardware
You know when you pickup the box you have something the others don't have- mass. Old-time solid construction. And the setup is simple and attractive. Then of course, the important part- Great sound and picture. It plays everything I have thrown at it. Now if it only will endures. My high-end Panasonic failed after just two years.

Works well with excellent picture quality
For starters the 4K BluRay UHD discs look fantastic, and play smoothly. The player is a bit on the larger side and has a hefty weight to it, feels well made and durable. It's also very quiet. I never heard it spin up to a loud hum or anything like that. There's no need for it to be excluded from the same room your TV is in as it is very quiet. The menu is well laid out and it's easy to plug in and get right into your first movie in as little as 10 to 15 minutes.Under the more detailed settings options menus it has plenty of settings to customize, adjust picture quality, turn HDR on/off, etc. It's not lacking any settings you may want to change or pick.We don't use the streaming apps as our TV already has them so I am not able to comment on that or the general use and performances of those streaming apps, however I imagine they're plenty fine.I've watched the same movie 3 times through so far (Interstellar) and it has worked flawlessly. I don't foresee this UHD BluRay player having any difficulties in handling heavier use or a shorter lifespan than my previous BluRay player. So far it's excellent and works just as advertised.A caution on the weight and size of the box: it's big and has a good heft to it. In my opinion that signals durability and an effort to isolate vibration which is what you would hope for to ensure smooth playback with the UHD discs as from my understanding vibrations can cause pauses and skipping - however I have experienced none of that and playback is smooth and reliable. The remote feels a bit cheap but it's a remote - it works just fine and for something I use for 30 seconds to pick and play I really don't mind, and some of the other reviews being picky on the remote are just nit-picking. It's fine.I've seen some reviews state vibration, skips, etc. however I have not experienced any of that. It just works which is what you'd want and expect.Really loving it and will be using it for a long time to come. Future of 4K BkuRay looks great, and I have no trouble finding movies I want on Amazon. It's nice to have them on BluRay so you can experience the higher fidelity and ownership rights without renting or streaming them in subpar quality. The picture quality is truly suburb. I highly recommend this player to anyone looking for one that is well made, durable, and "just works".
