This is my third heater purchase in the last 9 years and they all still work wonderfully. It's great to know that your birds can get warmth when they feel cold. When it's rainy and overcast outside, it can still feel chillier inside the house even when the main heat is on. I've checked the temperature and they all get warm just as promised in the description.

My Senegal parrot LOVES this gentle heater. It's one of the best things I've ever bought for him. It's great on those nights that might be a little more chilly, even with a blanket. It's well designed.

I initially purchased a 3 inch x 5 inch version last year. Bebop has a very large main cage and a same heavy gauge constructed "travel" home. The small size is perfect for his travel home. I took the opportunity to get the medium size unit for his main home. This "medium" 4 inch x 7 inch unit is quite larger and perfect for his main home. Both heater units work faithfully and provide a perfect amount of safe heat whilst being quite sturdy and pretty much impossible for Bebop to destroy in his curiosity. Whilst Bebop took a day or two to get used to the small unit last year, when I opened the package for the new larger unit, Bebop became excited and recognized what it was immediately. Bebop knew just what to do this time around and is very happy with the larger unit. I mounted the heater unit at an angle which Bebop likes better when he sits with it. It is high up in a branch perch ... at night I drape a thin blanket over the upper area of his home which catches and collects the heat for cold nights. Your parrot will probably do what Bebop does - he sits closer or further away a few inches depending on his own comfort. In my opinion as owning the small and medium size of these heaters, your parrot will learn to love it and you will rest easy knowing there will be good, safe heat for your buddy bird. The heater is well made, logical, and perfect. 100% approved by Bebop the parrot!

Only gets a bit warm if my parakeets are right next to it. I bought it because I unfortunately had a sick parakeet! He was always puffed up and sleeping. Found out he had a testicular tumor unfortunately 😕

My 27 year old Sun Conure appeared to be slowly failing the last few weeks and then a very unusual night terror predicated a very steep decline the next morning. I chose not to provide extraordinary measures, tests or procedures to determine the treatment due to her age. Calls to the vet and a friend who has kept exotics for years confirmed my fears of "it's probably time" and instructed to keep her warm and comfortable. The only additional suggestion I took was to add Avi Booster supplement to her fresh veggies and fruits. I cranked up my bedroom space heater to a tropical 75-80 degrees and kicked off my covers at night. LOL. As a couple days went by and she seemed to enjoy the fortified food, I looked into getting some sort of heating pad to put under the cage so I wouldn't have to keep running the heater as often. I thought of outdoor animals who have heated beds during the cold winter months. Maybe something I could put under the cage and her little sleeper nest box. But then I found this unusual and fabulous item. Amazon's detailed description and glowing reviews which also described it rather specifically (as well Amazon's free return if it didn't suit our needs....) made me give it a try. Desperate times calling for desperate measures and all... And, OMG! She LOVES it!!! It's not hot but warm to the touch. She really does snuggle up to it. If it is cool I'll still crank the heat for a few minutes to take the chill off, but the space heater is no longer needed. At this point, I didn't care how much electricity it would take if it was safe and kept her comfortable, but - hello - takes only 5 watts!!! It's been a little over two weeks now and she has recovered 110%!!! The combination of keeping her warm and the food supplement has given us a new lease on life. I cannot thank Amazon and K&H enough. My only regret is that I was clueless about this product years ago - she would have loved this.

OK, so I got this after a scare in which I was afraid my Amazon was developing a respiratory infection. She loves to have her cage in front of the window, but it gets cold here in the northeast! Hence, I order this heater. It seems to be well made, mine is about the size of an Iphone, and was pretty easy to install. I tested it outside the cage for a day to make sure it didn't get too hot, and it maintains the temp as advertised. Warm, but I could hold my hand against it comfortably for a while. The only hitch is that I had to rig a small metal ramekin at the top right under the cord so it wouldn't lay against the cage and be a chewing temptation. At first, Lolita reacted with horror, open beak, leaning dramatically away from it - you would have thought I put a venomous flatulent animal in there with her. This is not an uncommon reaction, so we waited it out. It took two weeks for her to accept it, and even now she will occasionally go over and whack it with her beak ( for no reason that I can see). But she does sit about 3-4 inches away from it, sleeps next to it, and is no longer afraid of it. She used to occasionally appear to be shivering, which meant moving the cage, now I haven't seen that for a while. So far, very good purchase, will update if anything changes. Update- Almost a year since I bought this, it’s been pretty much in use constantly for probably 10 out the past 11 months. Still doing the job, nice and warm, but not hot enough to be a concern. When it was below zero outside I put a heavy blanket over the top part of the cage, and she snuggles in right in front of her heater. This thing is awesome and I’m considering a second one if it’s gonna keep getting this cold! Still a totally awesome purchase, highly recommend!

Bird loves it with colder weather here. It does not give off much heat unless bird up against it but bird figured it out pretty quickly. Safety was my main issue and I have been able to leave on overnight for multiple days with no problem.

J'ai hésité pendant des mois avant de l'acheter mais là je comprend tous les bons commentaires que j'ai lus sur le sujet: après quelques semaines d'hésitation pour apprivoiser la "chose"... MON OISEAU L'ADORE!!! J'ai un inséparable âgé de 18 ans qui perd un peu ses plumes. J'ai mis la plaque de côté, c-à-d le côté le plus long à la verticale, et j'ai placé un barreau chauffant d'un côté de la plaque (avec un barreau réguler tout près ) et sa tente en polar de l'autre côté, avec une ouverture collée à la plaque chauffante. Eh bien il passe maintenant toutes ses nuits et ses siestes dans sa tente, la tête collée contre la plaque, en faisant de petits "crouc-crouc" de contentement. J'ai également vu son état de santé physique et psychologique s'améliorer grandement!!! Il a plus d'énergie, est plus joueur, mange mieux et est plus joyeux! J'ai aussi un gros poids de moins sur la conscience car au Quebec, l'hiver,c'est toujours frais dans la maison et nous, les humains, on s'habille juste un peu plus chaud mais eux ne peuvent pas porter de vêtements hi! hi! et, puisqu'ils ont une température corporelle plus élevée (autour de 42°C) que nous humains, quand je suis bien eh bien pour lui c'est frisquet ou limite ou bien carrément froid! De plus, sachant que, la nuit, la température baisse toujours à l'intérieur, je m'inquiétais beaucoup pour lui. Depuis que j'ai la plaque et le barreau chauffant, je sens enfin qu'il est bien et que je n'ai pas à m'en faire. Cependant, c'est juste parfait pour se coller dessus mais pas assez chaud pour chauffer la cage. J'ai donc également acheté une petite lampe avec une ampoule chauffante uva-uvb blanche pour le jour (donne de la luminosité en plus, ce qui est apprecié dans la sombreur de l'hiver) et noire pour la nuit (réchauffe sans éclairer). Bref, je recommande fortement et ça marche très bien.

These are absolutely brilliant for these colder nights here in the UK... keeps my green cheek conure nice and warm! I cover him at night with a big warm throw and when I take it off in the morning I can actually feel the heat from the cage... yet they dont get hot... just pleasantly warm... I dont worry now that he will get too cold! However... they do come with a US plug so if like me you are in the UK you will need a US to UK adapter... best £36 I've spent...

Me gusto mucho el hecho que llegara un día antes del que se esperaba. Compre 2 calentadores y ambos funcionan muy bien, llegaron en un muy buen estado. A 2 de mis Ninfas les agrada mucho, las mantiene calientitas durante la noche. Las otras 3 aún le tienen miedo por ser algo nuevo, pero no se espantan y eso es gracias al color neutro que tiene, están adaptándose poco a poco al calentador. Si recomiendo que tapen muy bien las jaulas de las aves para que no pasen corrientes de aire frío, y así puedan mantener el calor que les da el calentador. Es la primera vez que compro productos de K&H y hasta el momento me están gustando mucho, les hace bien a mis aves y no las ponen en riesgo. :D

My little parrotlet loved this,he was 14.5 years old and slowing down,sleeping all day,but loved cuddling up to the heater,it is just warm,you can hold your hand on it.We thought he might freak out when he seen it but he never.We placed it right near his favourite perch.Its easy to disconnect the cable to move around.Would highly recommend

Es una buen calentador para los pericos, al menos a la mía le encanta en una noche fría. Tardo en acostumbrases a ella pero es lo normal. Lo más que a calentado son 36.2 grados centígrados y lo menos han sido 32 así que me gusta.
