Secrets According to Humphrey

About this particular book- it's a great way to teach you child about good secrets and bad secrets. The author has a way to teach good morals with all too real, age appropriate situations using familiar characters. She also incorporates educational material into the story.These books are great. My kids school sent home a free copy of The World According to Humphrey and assigned parents to read it with them. It was hard to pass up (especially when they also send questions to discuss in class the next day). We ended up loving the book and have been picking up one after the other. I read them a chapter a night while they're laying down for bed. Good way to get them to bed too. I can just tell them I'm not reading Humphrey if they don't calm down/ put your had down and they're down in half a second.

My 9 year old son has read all of the books in this series. I read some chapters with him, because I enjoy the stories, too. They are super for elementary readers; easy to get my not-so-interested-in-reading son to enjoy. Fun adventures to follow. Leads us to discuss issues with parents & siblings, teachers, pet care, and school friends. Problem solving and social skills are taught with humor and love. Can't say enough about Humphrey books... I have been very careful in my constant search for appropriate chapter books for my son, and I am so very pleased that Ms. Birney has blessed us with these wonderful adventures!!!

A great series of chapter books to read with your child.

Humphrey is a classroom pet that knows how to write and understand what his friends are saying. One day, when the class is studying Egypt, Humphrey figures out the whole class has secret clubs and stuff and everybody is keeping secrets. Can Humphrey reunite his friends like before and figure out his friends' secret ??

My son's teacher introduced him to Humphrey books. I don't quite understand the draw, even though I'm quite fond of hamsters, but anything that gets the kids to read is great.

My grandson was introduced to the Humphrey series when he was in kindergarten. The books soon became his favorites. I buy him one or two of the books for every occasion. By this Christmas, he will have the entire series (to date). He will be very excited to get them!

My eight year old granddaughter LOVES these books! She has read all of the ones available in the series and is now rereading them all. They are a pretty quick read for a third grader, but very enjoyable for them and very age appropriate. They are much simpler to read than other series she has read, for example the Nancy Drew books and the Harry Potter series, and work very well for school night reading!

All the "Humphrey Books" have been great reading. They're fun and enjoyable for children. Humphrey is an endearing character and the books move along at a nice pace, keeping the reader interested.I'd recommend the whole set to any family with children up to 13 or so years old (even teens seem to enjoy Humphrey!)

This was requested by my seven year old daughter, I think they've been reading more titles from the series during class. Anyways, she loved it and immediately afterwards asked for more. Would recommend!
