Beck/Arnley 044-0345 Auto Trans Filter Kit

It was perfect for my 2014 Tacoma

Application: 2005 Toyota 4Runner 4.0L V6, 2WD. Most modern engines and transmissions use RTV to seal them, so an actual physical gasket is a welcomed change of pace, and is far less messy. The filter in this kit looked to be high quality (looking at the media inside, and the overall construction). This filter/gasket kit works well if you do the following: 1) Clean and prep ALL mating surfaces of the pan and lower transmission perimeter with a brass or copper bristle wire brush, brake clean, and lint-free shop towels. This is standard practice on oil pan work, but average DIYers won't know this. 2) Thoroughly clean out the trans pan, including the 4 magnets. Use brake cleaner first, jholding the pan vertical and letting the contents drain into a catch pan. 3) Hit the pan w/compressed air several times to remove tiny chunks and debris of gasket material or dirt. 4) Hold the heads of the old M6 bolts w/some pliers, and hit those threads with a medium sized wire brush. This is important to remove the years of dirt and RTV from them to avoid a cross-threading nightmare or broken bolt during re-install. 5) Set the new gasket neatly in place on the pan. Begin threading in your M6 bolts, by hand, through the bottom of the pan and into the gasket, every third hole. Begin with one corner, then every 3rd hole after, so that 2-3 threads of the bolt come through the top side of the gasket. NOTE: the holes are INTENTIONALLY small to promote a tight, leak-free seal around the bolts. It also captures the bolts to facilitate an easier re-assembly. Folks complaining about this in their reviews are still very green and new to auto work. 6) Carefully install your new filter, then your freshly cleaned pan and gasket. Use a small 3/8" drive power drill & 10mm deep socket to make life easier at starting to thread the M6 bolts into the trans. After you get 4 of them started, they will hold the pan in place while you manually thread in the remaining bolts. 7) Last thing, this is where some folks screw up: do NOT over-tighten the bolts. Factory spec is super light at ~65in/lbs. That's ~5lb/ft, or 1/3 the torque required to torque a modern spark plug. So don't go full r*tard. Failure to adhere to this will overly compress and distort the gasket, and either shorten its service life, or result in early leaks. Follow the above steps, then run your normal "hot leak test" with the engine and trans running after you get it all together, and you should have good results. I did. ✌️🍻

2014 Tacoma. Perfect fit. Here's a photo to show the difference between the original gasket (bottom) and the replacement Beck/Arnley (top). Exactly same size and circumference but slightly different thickness. Not enough for me to worry, torque the 20 pan bolts to spec and it will be fine. The strainer came with a new o-ring, which was convenient.

Fit my GX470 just fine. The filter frame is metal. The gasket worked fine, seems to be similar to what was already there from the factory, but I don't know for sure. I used a little transmission fluid-capable RTV in spots I was worried about and to keep the gasket from walking during installation but you don't have to since the bolt holes are narrow enough that they capture the bolt and thus lock the gasket in place.

The kit was of very high quality and fit my 2005 Toyota Tacoma Crew Cab 4x4 with the 4.0 Liter 1GR-FE engine and 5 speed transmission perfectly. The holes on the rubber gasket will hold the transmission pan bolts in place, making it easier to re-install the pan. Since the gasket holds them you can manage threading them all in by hand a bit while holding the pan up to the transmission with your other hand. Quite nice. I did use a layer of RTV gasket maker between the gasket and the transmission because my "Ha$&es" service manual recommended it. The service worked out nicely and there hasn't been any seepage from the gasket.

This fit my 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser just fine. The filter looked quality build, however I reused my gasket on there as it looked fine and was larger. The gasket they provide is much smaller the surface are is smaller and it was thinner.

I got this filter/gasket for my 2012 4 Runner and worked like a charm. It came with the O ring too. The gasket fit the OEM pan like the original. Everything went smooth with no issues.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: As good as the original

Cme in a very strong cardboard box so parts where well protected from possible damage. Filter appears well made although it resembles all the aftermarket ones. Screen is a file stainless steel mesh. Comes with O ring and a rubber like pan gasket which i prefer over the paper and cork rubber versions since its close to the OEM version. Bolt holes in gasket slightly undersize so that bolts will actually be held in place making installation much easier.
