Perfect for filming "over-head" with a light weight camcorder for making You Tube "How To" videos
Ingenious design! It took me a half a day of research online to try and figure out how to film "over head" to make craft how-to videos for You Tube and did a ton of due diligence on all the various options I found and am SUPER HAPPY that I settled on this one, thanks to some very helpful owners who answered my questions here on Amazon! The portion you see in the photo on the upper left is where you mount your camera (in my case I have a small, light weight hand-held type camcorder) and the portion you see on the lower right is where you mount this to your tripod. You don't need anything else to use with this besides your camera and a tripod. This "arm" can become fully extended (the bars can move up and down). I have a cheap tripod that worked just fine with the camera alone but with this arm mounted to it, the tripod was too flimsy to handle the weight of the arm fully extended (the poles in this device are hallow by the way) so I would definitely recommend a sturdy tripod if you need to use it that way. This thing should win an award design. I love it so much! It is totally worth the cost, well built, solid construction. Very fortunate to be able to buy this through Amazon, there aren't a lot of pro camera stores around these days to be able to walk into and look at these items and talk to sales people who are really knowledgeable with good advice, so I just wanted to thank the owners here on Amazon again who answered my questions!

Flexes too much
The 1KG payload rating is quite optimistic - unless you want to wait 30 seconds any time it gets touched for the vibrations to settle. Furthermore, the bolt that the wing nuts thread on to is OEM and you cannot get replacements unless you order an entire clamp assembly. They could have just molded the plastic to accept the hex head of the bolt to prevent its rotation while tightening the wing nut, but no.. they manufacture a non-standard bolt with tabs on the shaft instead. I'd like to speak to the engineer who decided on that.

Just what I needed
I make "how-to" You Tube videos and like to film over my shoulder and be able to use both my hands on the project. This was just what I needed. My video camera is very light weight though and am not sure that this arm would balance a heavier one. You can change the angles and balance the weight to get your camera where you want it. I use it in conjunction with an old tripod but I'm thinking I need a new tripod, one that is taller, and then I'll like it even better.

I am going beyond recommended weight on this and while still stable it took ...
My only wish is that Manfrotto made these to carry a little more weight. I am going beyond recommended weight on this and while still stable it took me a while to get it so that the camera I mounted to it did not lean.. But again I am over the recommended weight. Once everything was at the angle I wanted it locked solid.

Great for hobbyists!
If you're using it for taking pictures of art or objects its great! I'd be a little careful though when recording due to the fact that it wobbles like a tuning fork if you bump it or hit the surface that it's clamped on(if you bought the separate clamp).

Quality Product
This is a great product i have had trouble free operation from in the last two years. I have bought a second one and am very pleased with the product and the company who made it. It adjusts well and is easy to use. This piece would be well recommended by me to any professional who takes lots of still photos.

Excellent and priced right
I purchased this unit to enable rapid installation of temporary field sensors for vibration analysis. Works very well with positive locking.

Versatile and flexible accessory
The articulated arms are from hollow alloy tubing with very sturdy plastic clamps to lock them in place. Each arm is 280mm long. There's a spigot at each end which will fit the Manfrotto Super Clamp at one end and the (supplied) camera bracket at the other end. One spigot has a 1/4 inch threaded hole, the other has a 3/8 inch threaded hole, which makes it even more versatile. The camera bracket clamps on to either spigot and has a 1/4 inch camera screw with a neatly stowed 3/8 inch adapter. A camera or tripod head can be directly fitted to this.In use, the arm is solid and stays in place even with fairly heavy loadings. That said, it does flex rather a lot especially during adjustment, and you will need to let it settle before use. I use it with a Lumix G3 with remote control, and also with a small projector. I'd imagine a big DSLR might wobble when the mirror or shutter plane moves as a picture is taken but I've not tested this.In summary, it's a good bit of kit and works well where a tripod cannot be used. It's well made and infinitely flexible, and should give many years of service.

A lunghezza ridotta regge meglio.

Fantastico prodotto, blocchi sicuri costruzione solida e affidabile
