Best of all TV Medical Dramas
I absolutely love Saving Hope. I didn't start watching until the second season and was just captivated. Now I don't miss one episode. I purchased several episodes from the 1st season that were not seen on reruns because I wanted to have the full picture about the reason for Charlie's coma, and how he came out of it! I was really surprised and unhappy that Saving Hope is not available on my cable's On Demand feature, or even as free videos online like many other TV shows. So I was happy to purchase the shows for my Kindle at $1.99 ea. What a treasure. The supernatural feeling of the stories wherein Charlie "sees" ghosts or visions of people who are not yet dead is never smarmy or incredible. The love story of doctors Charlie and Alex has its ups and downs to say the least, but they are the most attractive couple one could imagine. I've always admired Erica Durance for her beauty and acting talents ever since Smallville. And Michael Shanks is perfect as the hunky, sensitive and intuitive ortho surgeon. Beautifully acted, extremely well written, this is my favorite medical drama of all time.

Fantastic Show
I'm not sure why this show wasn't a bigger hit in the US unless many, like me, had never even heard of it until it was basically gone due to poor promotion by NBC. Regardless the episodes contain a mixture of real-time action, bystander observation, and flashback to tell the story of Alex and Charlie--a couple who are in a terrible accident on the way to their wedding. He spends the season in a coma and she attempts to rouse him while also going about her job as a surgeon at the hospital where he is being treated. A few of the episodes toward the end of the season one run that start to flesh out the other characters' stories get a little clunky, but this was a show that had me yelling at the screen in response to the action more than once! I highly recommend it and can't wait until season 2 is available in the US. Erica Durance is amazing, as usual.

Intriguing
Saving Hope is well cast and delivers real life situations, relationships, intriguing performances.placing the viewer right in the emotional impact of each scene. The injuries and surgeries are a little to lifelike for my taste. I feel as though I am in the room up close and personal to a real life surgery procedure. That gets a bit tough to handle then they throw in an emotional conversation between Charlie, who is in a coma and the patient teetering on life and death. Very creative storylines. A truly commited love story between. Charlie and his financee Dr.Reid. Erica Durance delivers a powerful character. She pushes through the season with determination to keep Charlie alive, never giving up on him. A great show for adults but a little intense for young viewers.

My thoughts on Saving Hope
Erica Durance has earned a series of her own and Saving Hope gives her the chance to show her range as an actress. Dr Alex Reid is at times highly competent to the point of seeming detached from her patients pain. The tragic accident that puts her fiance Dr. Charlie Harris in a coma; throws her into the emotional tailspin that she's had to put up with from her patients and their loved ones. The first season is a tour de force for Ms Durance. At times she eats up the scenery with angst and at others she becomes part of the scenery; sometimes both in one scene. I recommend this to anyone one who enjoys medical dramas but may have tired of the bed-hopping soaps they turn into. Michael Shanks as the comatose Dr. Charlie Harris is at times comic relief and more times the crux of the episode.

Wow - such a good series!
I liked Michael Shanks in the Stargate franchise so I thought I'd give this a try. I'm so hooked. The premise of the story is that two doctors, very much in love, are off to get married when they are in a car wreck and the male doctor ends up in a coma. The whole season is not just devoted to him waking up - I won't spoil how the season ends by telling you if he does or not - but also to the hard lessons learned by the doctors around him as they cope with the traumas in the hospital. The lessons are meaningful and the story line mesmerizing. Worth the money!

This has been one of the best series I have seen on Television ever
This has been one of the best series I have seen on Television ever!. It had originally aired on NBC before being cancelled after it's first season. What a mistake. Sometimes it takes people a while to find the 'gold" so I think NBC "dropped the baby" on this one. The Series is out of Canada and can be seen on ION television channel, but sadly after the sixth season I believe it will be coming to an end. ( at least that is what I read ). If you want a totally refreshing and wildly different series to watch give this one a try. It's one of the most refreshingly different and unusual stories I've ever watched. Mourning it's departure.

Thank you Canada for saving Saving Hope
Unlike many viewers I tuned into this show not really knowing who any of the actors were. I saw the preview on NBC and decided to give it a try based on its unique twist on the medical drama genre. Even though NBC cancelled the show before the end of the first season, Canada's CTV was not so quick to pull the plug on Dr. Charlie Harris and, now in its 3rd season, Saving Hope has become one of my all-time favorite shows.Through great storytelling, intriguing medical cases, great characters portrayed by talented actors, and of course the supernatural element, Saving Hope sets itself apart from other medical shows past and current.ION Television has now picked up the rights to show Saving Hope in the US, so I hope we will see Season 2 and beyond on DVD here soon.

Fab Series, but... sigh.
I loved the characters, absolutely. The quality of the show was right on, the Canadian version of Greys Anatomy, only more focused. The intrigue about Charlie's ways of interacting with other unseen patients... and how we see him dealing with stress even as a kid... really deepened the search for answers. The only other thing I have to say (I don't think this is really a spoiler) is this: If the American market saw the end of Season One, I can well imagine why they didn't buy more seasons. On the other hand, I would have watched as much of it as was put in front of me.

Highly Recommended.
I have watched all 3 series on streaming and because the series is so good I decided to buy series 1 and 2 and awaiting series 3 and 4 to come out. This is the best hospital drama series since ER. The romance between the cast is excellent and the spirits seen by Charlie are great adding to a great storyline. Charlie having to hide the fact he is seeing them adds to the storyline. I would recommend this series to anyone who loves hospital dramas. 5 Star.

Took a few episodes but I grew to appreciate it.
Liked Erica Durance from Smallville, and Michael Shanks from Stargate SG-1 so I thought I would take a chance. I admit I struggled a bit with the first few episodes as you need to have sympathy/rapport with characters that you haven't had time to understand or relate too. But if you persevere there is a decent drama here.
