Let's start with saying that I don't usually write reviews, only when a product is particularly bad or good do I review it. This is a good review. I have this installed on a the inside of the back gate of a '97 TJ Wrangler. I've had car batteries and other gear in the back that has been sliding around and banging the hell out of this amp. I have left the top down too long on numerous occasions and the amp has been rained on countless times, never shorting and always working while wet.As far as sound quality goes, I would use it to round out the bass of a high quality set of 6x9's like I have. It gets to the lows while your 6x9's are busy with all frequencies, including the lows. I have a soft top so a lot of the volume is wasted on open air but this would be great for an installation inside the cabin of a closed car. The volume isn't fantastic but it's great for bass inside the car, not for impressing the car next to you if that's what you're into.So all said and done, this speaker does what it says and it takes a beating for those with trucks or boats.

I had the 8" model of the Hydra previously. Unfortunately it did not survive being left DIRECTLY in the Florida elements for 6 months. My suggestion is, definitely mount it in a protected area. It is splash and water resistant, not weather or water "proof". This being said, I love it. The 10" speaker provides just enough bass that blends in behind my 6" midrange speakers. You definitely need to adjust it to your liking. It is very compact although it is a little heavy. The Hydra is the best bang for the buck so to speak because you have an amp and sub in one compact package. Your other option... a separate amp and find a place to cut a large hole on your boat for the speaker. Granted if your are looking to enter a bass competition with this sub your are not going to win. If you are looking to complete your system by adding some nice lows to compliment your other speakers, then you have chosen the right product. Great sound for a reasonable price.

Works great, overheated a few times so I gave it more airspace, which fixed the problem. Lots of wires to hook up, I used 10 gage instead of the recommended 8, and being in a boat had to run the ground to the battery. It doesn't seem to go as low in frequency as my home 8" Kliptch, but really nice sound on my antique 31' Chris Craft!

The packaging was good.First time opening box I notice that the Speaker grating was dented in.First time applying power it went straight to Protect mode.I bought the New BOSS CAP2CR 2.0 FARAD LED Digital Car Audio Capacitor Cap + 4 Gauge Amp Kit at the same time on Amazon specifically for this. All of my connectors are Soldered, Covered in Heat-Shrink and Secure.I have tried removing the RCA's, Changed the Fuses & Turned all adjustments down.If I can get a clear answer on how to fix this issue or not have any issues getting a replacement that works then my review stars may go up.

For the money it’s what I expected. Sound is good and the quality is decent as well.

absolutely love this sub. ive had mine for almost a year and my brothers for several months. while this will not shatter windows or cause people to go deaf it does round out the sound extremely well. the install was so simple i think my 10 year old sister could do it. all you need to install is -> Boss Audio KIT2 8 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit with High Performance RCA Interconnect and Speaker Wire

Not a bad unit but for an open area like a boat just doesent have the power to really make a differnce.Going to return it and try an infinity unit.Will update review when I can compare them.Got the infinity baselink if you have room for this one get it is blows the pyle unit away!!!!
