Yes, I have the cold air blowing down on it from my main level to the basement which is where my pellet stove is. it heats the whole house great and the basement as well. I went with this setup based on a contractor's recommendation and glad I did.

It will probably help some, although cold air tends to fall. I've used mine strictly for heat from a pellet stove in my basement.

i put two between floors. i wired them to a light switch. you could wire them through a senser that detects you Heat pump status and then turn on the fans.
