Received Wave 3 not Wave 2 egg
Although offered a Wave 2 series Breakout Beast to try for review purposes, I was in fact sent one from Wave 3 - in a purple egg rather than a green one, so my apologies for the fact my comments aren't as central to the linked series as they could be – although the principle of the toys is the same. What you get for your money is a decent size plastic egg – about the size of the Easter eggs that are sold with mugs. The egg has a flattened top and bottom surface with studs to connect to construction bricks. The purple egg I received has quite a small amount of colour variation towards the top, which almost looks as though some of the slime might have leaked – though in fact this was not the case. Indeed the slime proved not to be green. The egg opens neatly towards the middle and the parts can be kept and rejoined. Inside the egg is a plastic packet containing the beast parts and slime; whilst assembly instructions are sensibly outside of the packet. The slime is multi-coloured (we got a kind of yellow and orange ombre). It’s super-sticky, and my nephew had great fun playing with it, but found it quite frustrating trying to liberate the pieces of his creature in order to assemble it. The build isn’t hugely complicated, but because the beast has quite a lot of details on each part it can be really fiddly to get all of the gunk off.The creature (I am given to understand by both my nephew and my brother – who used to be into Games Workshop models when we were kids) is pretty nice. We got a blue, griffin-type beast. The egg, as well as being rejoined, can also be separated and used as display staging for the beast. Several such would make quite an impressive, hilly display.

Messy when open but great fun
Mega Bloks Construx GFM62 Mix 2 Breakout Beasts Wave 2This is quite a large monster egg, it just about fits into an adults hands. The first challenge was how on earth do I get into this? After close inspection I found it has a thin peel off layer of plastic around it.I was meant to receive Breakout Beasts Wave 2, but instead I received Wave 3. I'm not too sure what the differences are, maybe different monster types?Once you crack open the egg it's quite a messy affair, you are left with a pile of monster parts stuck in the middle of a puddle of slimy goo. This is great fun if you don't mind wading through a load of goo to pick out the various parts. Kids will love this as they will probably want to complete the collection. The problem with this being a mystery monster is that you do stand a good chance of doubling up on monsters if collecting more than one is the goal. The monster is a good size once assembled. Assembly is not a pleasant job as it's most likely the adult that will have to deal with this rather than the child, it's ok if you can get over having slimy fingers. Once assembled these will look great lined up as a display on a desk.Great messy fun for youngsters - Recommended!Contents -1 x Monster egg1 x Mystery monster in parts1 x Loads of sticky gooIf you have found my review at all helpful I would very much appreciate if you could click the 'Helpful' button below, thank you.

Great Product, Beware of Slime
Before I get this review going in earnest, I will disclaim that the 'Breakout Beast' I received was from Series Three and *not* Series Two as advertised. Though this may have simply been an error. The idea of this is great. You have a cool little monster egg, open it up, and amongst the monstorous slime are pieces of a monster to create. Perfect. And a good price for hours of playtime. The problem is that the slime in this is not like most slime I've ever held, or felt. It's far stickier and very quickly stuck to a lot of surfaces. It's difficult to get the monster pieces out, and in doing so drips slime everywhere. Please, please, please supervise whoever uses this. When you have the monster pieces out, they're covered and filled with slime that spits out at you when you piece them together. I spent around half an hour meticulously cleaning the monster pieces when finally I was done. I feel like this will take away from the intended audience's attention span. And then, at this point, you only have half the slime left. The main part of this product though, the monster, is fantastic. You get a multi-part beast with some pretty cool attachments and parts that really didn't need to be included. They're a bonus! 'Blazore', my beast, is a tremendous mix of wolf and griffin, coated with odd armour plating and shooting green balls of... sorcery, I suppose? He has multiple areas of articulation, stands up on the egg for great poses, and is all-round a cool toy.I can also easily see kids lining up to collect them all, like LEGO minifigures, or any of those blind bags you see everywhere nowadays. In conclusion, it's a fair price for a fair toy. And if the slime was a little less adhesive, it would be perfect. But as it happens, Blazore is staying very close to me indeed.

Nice Beast....'Orrible Slime
Just like other reviewers the egg we received was a series 3 edition and not the series 2 version that is pictured and described in the Amazon listing. That said our nephew was thrilled to receive it as an unexpected gift. My wife is a lot wiser than me (sic) so insisted that our nephew open the egg up on the kitchen work surface. Good job too as the slime that oozes out is rather tacky. Not overly so, but I'd imagine that is it was released on a carpet or bedspread for example it would be a pain to remove. Wasn't a problem to wipe off the kitchen work top though. The monster type thing that comes out with the slime is really rather impressive, even to me, and our nephew was well pleased. Took him about 15 minutes to construct it and 20 minutes to clear all the slime off. It has now joined his ever growing collection of ghouls, dinosaurs, dragons and assorted beasties on his bedroom shelf. The slime though is in the dustbin.
