why did I put it off?
I’ve been reading MA’s work for a couple of years now, actually, probably a little more. Mostly his more recent collaborative efforts, such as the brownstone sagas, most of the beaufont series’s. Skipped Paris’s for some reason that I cannot quantify at this time. I have heard of the Kurtherian Gambit and following series, but hadn’t picked it up to date. Fast forward to a couple days ago, when I finished another MA and Tiny Ninja collaboration, and looked around kindle and realized that I had nearly two weeks before the next release in any of the half dozen series I’m currently enjoying. What to do? Well, back track, and start one that you know is finished, then hopefully by the time I get through that, more will be released. It’s taken me a little over 3 days to finish the first 7 book boxed set, and I will be moving on to the next as soon as I hit submit on this review. Maybe I was waiting to start this series for this time, or maybe I didn’t want to be in the middle of yet one more series and bouncing back and forth at the times I considered in the past. I am d@$& glad that I finally picked it up, if you haven’t, and you enjoy any of his other work, you should, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

This fantastic series started my addition to Michael’s writing and LMBPN!!!!!
Congratulations to Michael Anderle for this amazing series. This is, I think, the fifth time I’m reading this complete series. All of the Kutherian Sagas are exceptionally entertaining and enjoyable. It’s extremely hard to find such an interesting and exciting author who not only writes intelligently but also provides top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. An major plus is that Michael has attracted so many great authors to produce all the other parts of the complete Kutherian Saga.

Just read it!
An interesting take on vampires and weres that I enjoyed. It's not a particularly new idea, but it IS fresh and well written. A page turner that will keep you up past your bedtime! Well edited, there were no misspellings that I remember. There were very few turns of phrase that I had to read more than once to make sure I understood just what was being said, which is something I really appreciated! A lack of decent editing and/or proofreading seems to be spreading like a particularly nasty virus and I applaud Michael Anderle for his efforts in making his books pleasant to read without slogging through horrid grammatical and spelling errors. Mr. Anderle is fast becoming one of my favorite authors in the Science Fiction/Fantasy genre!

The best sci-fi I’ve read in a long time. Fast paced and fun to read. Can’t wait to read more.

Lots of fun with great characters, lots of laughs and a story that zips right along.
The Box set is a great value with 7 books for $10. I originally purchased the omnibus editions and completed the series with the single books. I am considering purchasing the box sets just for the ease of having big chunks of the story all in one edition. I highly enjoyed the story and the characters. I am currently doing a re-read of the entire series with the spin offs and find myself going "Oh yeah! I forgot all about that".

Loved this series!!!!!!
The best part of Michaels books are that they do not use sex as a fill-in, you get a whole fantastic can't put the book down story. And much like the chips of old, you can't stop at just one!

Very Fun Series to Read, Space Opera with Style and Intelligence,
I give this book 4 Stars instead of 5 as i believe 5 Stars should be used for books that are Milestones in the genre such as "I, Robot", "Pebble in the Sky", "The Door Into Summer", "Dragon Riders of Pern", etc. Stories that could rightly be called "game changers". Don't get me wrong, this series is a GREAT READ, and I really enjoy it. While the majority of this book is about mostly normal people here in Earth, its story is in the setting of Intergalactic War. I read at night, when I'm in bed, only problem is turning the lights off before midnight and getting enough sleep. I'm only as far as beginning Book 6. I call this Space Opera because it is a really entertaining read where the Good Guys win (I hope that isn't a Spoiler?), if you're of the mind to nitpick and find holes in authors' stories, read some other genre, Science Fiction isn't for you! I can find holes & mistakes in Asimov's "Foundation" and McAffrey's "Dragon Riders of Pern" (both considered Classics of Science Fiction) if I want to. Characters here are fun and interesting. There is a warning about foul language, but it isn't all that gratuitous; main characters get into a contest early in the series with each other as to who can come up with the most creative insults/cuss words; said Contest continues through the series so be aware it's part of the story. For those who are giving it 5 out of 5 Stars and writing how wonderful it is I can say I agree with your narratives, but not the 5 out of 5 Stars, which I have explained. I agree with their enthusiasm, but as I started reading SF at the age of 10 when "Dragon Riders of Pern" came out in 1967, I take a "Longer View" (Yes !!! I can hear the groans from the readers!). In the context of what SF has been written since 1967 this is Good Story Telling. Almost as good as "Farmer in the Sky", but "Almost" is the operative word here. It is certainly worth your buying it, but don't read it at night unless you're able to go until 1 or 2 in the morning.Personally I dislike reviewers who go through a Laundry List of picky details about books they're reviewing. My challenge would be "Let's see YOU write something better!"KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, Michael! Looking forward to finishing the series!

A Big Thank you! To the author and my Mom!
My thank you to the author, Thanks for writing such a badass female lead! And to my mom for introducing me to this series. My mom and I were discussing books and I was telling her about books I was reading because I liked the female leads, so she started telling me about this series and told me I would love it, and she was 100% correct. I am on a complete binge on this series and already have the next book set ready to read. There are so many fantastic characters in this series and the action is superb! I can honestly say, that I absolutely love this series and the authors notes at the end, and I would definitely recommend.

Brilliantly written series
Ok, I came to this series by accident. I had been reading Michael D Cooper’s (MDC) AEON 14 Universe and came across a book called “Bob’s Bar” and one of the characters was a Bethany Anne (TQB), another was Terry Henry (TH) Walton, both of the Kurtherian Universe. I didn’t find it odd that 2 authors were writing about the same Universe as the AEON 14 has plenty of authors as well.Well to cut a long story short, I purchased “Bad Company” on 18 May 2019, read it in a day, to many characters I could not get reference on. Did a bit of research, purchased the first arc of the Kurtherian Gambit (KG), Death Becomes Her. Read it, re-read it, tears of laughter, etc. I think I irritated a lot of people by laughing out loud in public. (Reading on trains, etc. is normally a quiet, reflective past-time, not with this series). Since then I have purchased all 21 books of the “Kurtherian Gambit” arcs as well as the 5 (currently) books of the Kurtherian Endgame (KGE) arc. This led to the purchase of the “Dark Messiah” (Ell Leigh Clarke & Michael Anderle) quadrilogy. If you have read any of the KG books you will have an idea who and what this may be about. No Spoilers here. Then there is the Nomad Arc (Craig Martelle & Michael Anderle) about TH Walton and his family. This is the precursor to the “Bad Company” arc.Added to this is the “Reclaiming Honour” arc (Justin Sloan & Michael Anderle), about a minor character from an earlier book. There are other arcs in this Universe but I have not yet got round to them all.Yes, there are Vampires, Were Wolves, Were Bears, Were Cats, Forsaken, Dogs, Cats, Bears, Wolves, Humans, Aliens, EI’s (Electronic Intelligences), AI’s, Good Guys (but not always), Bad Guys,(but not always)and, most importantly, Moral Justice. Not the pseudo morality of Christianity but the basic morality of It is our “DUTY” to protect those people who look to us for protection from those who would do those people harm. It is not a “Kill or be Killed” scenario but more of a “Give people a chance” but always be ready “To do unto others as they would do unto you, but do it first”.This story line does NOT follow the “Traditional” idea of Vampires, etc. It has a completely new twist on the Genre. You really need to read the books to understand. The Author’s comments at the end of each book are almost as entertaining as the books and give you a much better idea of the difficulties of independent authors.Michael Anderle, in particular denigrates his writing by referring to it as “Pulp Fiction”. I cannot agree, pulp fiction has 2 dimensional characters with little or no character development and very few characterisations at all.Michael Anderle’s characters are fully rounded, they have a life of their own and you can read, and feel, their angst, joy, fear and enjoy the interactions between the many characters involved. It is now 26 June 2019 and over the last 40 days I have consumed at least 42 books of this Universe.I truly love this; it is in the best tradition of Pratchett, McCaffrey, Eddings, Brian Herbert, “Doc” Smith and Robert Jordan. At no time in these books is there any attempt to justify their existence as other than pure entertainment. These books take us on a journey, unapologetically, through different Universe from our own and entertain all the way from the beginning to the, as yet undefined, end.I will continue to read this series as it evolves and cannot recommend it highly enough. One final point; Michael Anderle is correct; there is a hellava lot of Cursing, F-Bombs, etc.Thank YouMike Gillon

Need more stars ************
There are no words to express just how good this series is...and that's just this set!!! Whoop a*** characters that deliver the goods, change and learning as they battle through seemingly endless enemies and all delivered with such 'panache ' you cannot help but cheer and shout 'Take that, sucka!!!' There are moments of laughing out loud and those that will bring a lump to your throat but no matter what is a thrilling ride that I need to continue!!! Keep 'em coming Michael!!!

Simply fantastic!
Having read 6 other series in both the Kurtherian and the Orniceran universes this was my first venture to where it all began, and boy what a ride it was! The sheer amount of action, intrigue, adventure all held together with whit and simply fantastic characters amazed me, especially considering the speed with which the books are written. These books are a must for anyone, and yes I mean anyone, no matter what genre you enjoy you'll find them all in these books and , like me, be begging for more. Michael you have a fan for life, plus a beta reader in England whenever you want (hint hint) I've joined all the groups I can and have a library full of adventures through the affore mentioned universes to enjoy, I only worry that at my reading speed (one and a bit books a day) I'll run out. I'll try not to worry about that too much (or I might cry, either that or finally have the courage to finish my own book) so now I'm off to start book 8, hell yeah bitches!

Great literary art? No. Superb escapist fiction? Hell, yeah.
I came across this somewhat by accident. As a voracious reader with a personal library of well over 3000 printed books, my relatively recent introduction to the 99p boxed sets for Kindle Prime, and then Kindle Unlimited, were eye-openers. Not only fabulous value for someone like me but hey, no more wasted shelfspace. Win-win.So, after a few weeks of exploring various boxed sets, most of which I enjoyed, I finally got around to some of Michael's work, namely, the Kurtherian Gambit, books 1-7.What do I think? Well, the short version is I ended up downloading the next two boxed sets too.For a more nuanced appraisal, it all depends what you're looking for. If carefully crafted and finely honed Booker prize winning prose is your thing, move along. This probably isn't for you. Well, maybe not. There are times I want serious read too, which these aren't.But if you're looking for outright escapism, if you don't mind comparatively shallow characters but just a trip-roaring good tale .... and if you can put up with the utterly potty-mouthed lead character (don't say you weren't warned) then you WILL NOT get better value than these, especially in the boxed sets. There's a good dollop of humour, some romance and truck-load of ass-kicking. All told, you'll either love it or hate it.These aren't perfect. The 'universe' isn't deep and detailed and there's an element of cartoonism about the characters. Tolkien, this isn't. Nor Jordan, Weddings, nor Piers Anthony. But given the speed with which they're turned out, and given the payment per page, they cannot be. The author(s) of this and other boxed sets like this would starve. But given the timetables involved, they are very well done indeed. And that's what it comes down to. This sort of publishing is relatively new, can only exist in today's online world and is a business model not suited to books that take a year or more to write. And that's why this review asks you to decide what you want. If you are looking for page-turning escapism, a LONG storyline and a damn fun read, look no further. If you want fine literary art, look elsewhere.

Good ideas but lacks bite
The ideas in this series are great, and they keep coming, along with gore, inventive cussing and brutal violence. The characters have too easy a life for me though. The author says he doesn't like books where you're constantly afraid for the character's life, so I guess we're bound to disagree. I needed a shot of Kerry Hadley-Pryce to subdue all the optimism. I agree the author's "escapist" assessment of his own work. I'm looking forward to the next story arc, with a larger canvas and aliens who might not be such a pushover as the vampires, werewolves and computer hackers of the first seven books. An enemy who doesn't really know what's going on is a straw dog.
