I gave this book to my family to enjoy since the Jacob Lawrence exhibit is at a local museum. This book is fabulous for children and adults. The colors and artistic style are very reflective of this artist's style. The story is uplifting.

My sister used to get a much earlier version of this book as a child. I was so happy to find it. I presented it to her for her 50th birthday. She cried and was speechless.

This book has all the elements I look for as a good example of what children need in a picture book.Excellent colorful illustrstions.History.Fun poetry.Not too many words per page.I train teachers snd parents and use this as example. And LOVE reading it to my grandchildren.

I purchased 3 copies of this wonderful , beautiful book as gifts. One book was delivered with the back cover bent and creased. I am very disappointed.

Purchased this for my grand daughter age 7 and I loved it, thought it was a great way to introduce her to Jacob Lawrence's work and start a foundation for her art book/history library. No feed back from she or her parents as yet.

Beautiful simply told story with wonderful illustrations. Will appeal to great story lovers of all ages.

The story line and art work were great. A book that one can keep forever.
