Rust-Oleum 7780730 Rustoleum 7780-730 1/2 Pint Stops Rust Primer, 8 Ounce, Flat White Clean Metal, 8 Fl Oz

I've used this primer on both metal and wood under the same line of Rustoleum gloss paints. I shoot it on thinned 33% with acetone and it goes on smooth. With wood, the grain lifts, so you have to sand and do multiple coats, but that's with pretty much any finish on wood. Overall, it holds up well and is a good value. It is oil based, so it's harder to work with than water based, but worth the effort, I think.

Great paint. used as primer on bare metal exterior door... like that is is oil based. I went over top with a latex exterior. No issues with peeling.

This is a primer base. It's very thick and will protect whatever you paint. Easy to spray and alot in a can.

Top quality. Super adhesion, consistent and easy to work with. I used it on metal and wood. Awesome results. Can be used with an electric spray, dilute it with a paint thinner for consistency.

I just painted most of our somewhat neglected wrought iron fence. After prepping I still had some light rust here and there. It all covered fine with no bleed through. I did use two coats in most areas to get full coverage partly because the original fence color was black. The light rusty areas and even a couple of heavily rusted areas covered with one coat. I was using a brush and a small roller, not spray equipment.The color of this primer is bright white. The finish is flat.

I’ve been using Rustoleum products forever! This can came with small clamps to ensure it was not going to pop open during shipment! I never saw this before. Excellent. Also, using it as a primer before paint on floor pans on a old Beetle. Goes on nicely, flows smooth with a brush. Two coats with two hours in between. Read the directions before you complain!! This is a good product for a very low price!
