This is for electronics work only. DO NOT attempt to use this for soldering jewelry. A special torch is needed for that.

25W is the perfect size for a fixed wattage soldering iron when working on electronics. The solder will flow very well, and you reduce the change of overheating the components or the board significantly. With a 40W iron, it is extremely easy to damage both the board and the components. The only time that I would ever recommend a 40W iron, is if you are having trouble soldering large/heavy wiring. P.S. NEVER solder any wires that connect directly to the power line. Solder can, and will explode in a flash, if there is a short.
