Great Technical book
Great book for beginners or anyone looking to freshen up on the basic techniques. The fundamentals are timeless and should be practiced by all. It's really hard to find a good book on boxing technique. This one is simple, easy to understand and covers all the things you need to know in order to get started or maintain what you've learned.

Everything you need to know
I love a good fight. Boxing, like wrestling is among the purest of athletic competitions, relying on strength, speed, conditioning and will-power. _Boxing Basics_ is, as a previous reviewer wrote, an understatement here. Gotay provides a ground-up lesson on how to fight from the wrapping of hands to stance and how to throw a punch to ring strategy and combinations. Written as a text for a college course on boxing, Gotay does a very thorough job of breaking down and explaining the details of the sport, even to the point of providing a training schedule. I was more interested in detail in terms of foot and hand work and strategy rather than the elementary elements of the sport, but Gotay is explicitly writing for the beginner. That said, I highly recommend it to anyone curious about or interested in the sport.

Good read
Great book, very concise and good at explaining plus has great photos, however considering that most other boxing books go for around $10 the $24 was a tad much. But overall it was worth the price.

Great book. Buy it.
I abhor books on sports training. This book, however, would have been great for the context that I wished I had when I started boxing. It told me things like why being a south paw is a pain, why I get so tired when I'm fighting someone heavier than I am, and all the basic stuff that all the other new guys are also pretending they know and don't want to ask about. If you get a book on boxing, this is perfect. Not overstated, like they're trying to make boxing out to be some sort of theory-driven science, and not so simply written that even a boxer could read it (oh snap!).
